Myrtice Mixon Hayes

ALBANY — Myrtice Mixon Hayes, 97, of Albany, died Sunday, November 16, 
2003 at Palmyra Medical Center. 

The graveside service will be conducted 11 AM Wednesday at Floral Memory 
Gardens with the Rev. Tami Coleman officiating.

Mrs. Hayes was born on November 23, 1905 in Ocilla, GA. She attended the 
Irwin County schools and graduated from Ocilla High School in 1926. Mrs. 
Hayes lived in Albany since 1928 and was a member of First United Methodist 
Church where she attended the Sapp Sunday School class. She was a volunteer 
for the Red Cross for 15 years. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her 
husband, Ira I. Hayes, her daughter, Jo Ann Johnson, a grandson, Steve 
Johnson, and fourteen siblings.

Survivors include her daughters: Betty Jean Vining and Janice McLendon both 
of Albany; four grandchildren: Deb Mattox of Crestview, FL, Terri Godbolt of 
Midlothian, VA, Kim Meffert of Chester, VA and Stacy Reeves of Rincon, GA; 
seven great-grandchildren: Chad Mattox of Niceville, FL, Joy Covil of
Midlothian, VA, Tracy D'Antonia of Midlothian, VA, Ben Godbolt of Midlothian, 
VA, Amy Purvis of Elgin, SC, Jason, Shanna and Sarah Reeves of Rincon, GA; 
five great-great-grandchildren: Ashley and Amber Purvis, Josie Covil, Joshua 
Mattox, and Nathaniel Reeves.

The family will receive family and friends Tuesday from 6 PM till 8 PM at
