Kimbrell Stern - Obituaries
Dr. Reese W. Cross, Sr.

Date of Birth: December 22, 1918  
Date of Death: August 13, 2007  

Dr. Reese W. Cross, Sr., age 88, died at home in Dawson, Ga. On August 
12,2007.  

Dr. Cross, son of the late Lamar and Meredyth Cross of Albany was born in Baker 
County, GA. He attended grammar schools in Lee and Dougherty Counties, 
graduating from Albany High School in 1937. He attended Emory Junior College, 
Valdosta; Carlisle University, Bamberg, S.C.: and graduated from North Georgia 
College, Dahlonega in 1940. He worked as aircraft mechanic at Darr Aero Tech, 
Albany, and Bell Bomber plant, Marietta, Ga. prior to WWII. Subsequently, he 
served briefly with Army Air Corps in Europe. He graduated from Palmer 
Chiropractic College in Iowa with postgraduate studies at Texas Chiropractic 
College and received his Ph. C. (Philosophy of Chiropractic). Upon graduation, 
he established and maintained his chiropractic practice in Dawson for 
approximately 37 years. He was a WWII veteran, member of Scottish Rite Masons, 
Dawson Elks Club, Dawson Golden K. Club, Gideon’s International, Dawson First 
Methodist Church, and Berean Sunday School Class, 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Huckabee Cross. Survivors include 
one son, Reese W. Cross, Jr. and his wife, Linda; two daughters, Hope Cross 
Almon and her husband, Philip of Cairo and Betty Cross Johns, of Birmingham, 
AL; one sister, Ruth Cross Hayes and husband, Durward, of Albany; 8 
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as well as loyal friend and caretaker, 
Gracie Chambless, of Dawson. Pallbearers will be Clint Cross, Chip Cross, 
Robert Johns, Bill Johns, Shaun Johns, Sidney Belcher, Jim Collins, and Chris 
Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Berean Sunday School 
Class. Memorials may be made to Dawson United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 167, 
Dawson, Ga. 39842 or Gideons International. 

The family will receive friends at Kimbrell Stern Funeral Directors on Tuesday, 
August 14th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.,His funeral service will be Wednesday, 
August 15, 2007 2 PM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with interment in 
Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Robert Williams officiating.
