Charles James “Charlie” Booth of Albany died Monday, May 15, 2006 at Wesley 
Woods in Atlanta. His funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, May 18, 2006, 
graveside at Crown Hill Cemetery with Dr. William E. “Butch” Knight Jr. 
officiating. 

A native of Moultrie, Mr. Booth came to Albany at the age of 15 and was a 1933 
graduate of Albany High School. He joined the C.C.C in 1933 and served until 
1935. In 1942 he joined the US Army, 4 Th Division Signal Corps, under General 
Teddy Roosevelt Jr., seeing action in the Hurtgen Forest and the Battle of the 
Bulge, where He received the Good Conduct Medal and 5 Bronze Stars. He was a 
member of First Baptist of Albany, a deacon and Sunday school teacher, and with 
the assistance of his wife they started a program with the young married of the 
church and were involved with hospital visitation. 

He worked for Hays Motor Parts from 1952 until he retired and then later 
returned to work another 18 months. He loved to play baseball, softball and 
then golf, being a member of Radium Country Club and later Stonebridge Golf and 
Country Club and he was a member of the American Legion. 

Survivors include 2 sons; Richard “Rick” A. Booth and Randolph “Randy” L. Booth 
of Atlanta, 4 grandchildren: Olivia C. Booth, of Atlanta, Samantha C. Booth and 
Nicholas S. Booth, of Ft. Collins, CO, and Kylee Marx Booth of Atlanta; a 
sister Hilda Flynt of Forsyth. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle 
Clark Booth. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 PM at Kimbrell-
Stern Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American 
Cancer Society, Dougherty-Lee Unit, P.O. Box 1201, Albany, GA 31702 or 
Alzheimer’s Association, Southwest Georgia Chapter, 1512-1 Gillionville Rd., 
Albany, GA 31707.
