Kimbrell Stern Announcements - 2006

Date of Death: November 15, 2006  

Chris lived in Albany since 1949. She was an active member of First United 
Methodist Church of Albany. She was a faithful member of the “Elnora Hawk 
Class,” where she served as President for six years. She was an active member 
of the United Methodist Women in mission service, and the “Young-at-Heart” 
Club. She served as volunteer receptionist in the church office for more than a 
decade. She was a woman of great faith, grace and beauty who gave diligently 
out of her care and concern for others. She retired from a career in Civil 
Service. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Riley and Mary George, 
by her brother, Chesley George, and her sister and brother-in-law, Verne and 
Byron Blackburn. She is survived by her husband, William Borden Barry; her 
daughter, Virginia Heidinger; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Gayle 
Barry; her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her brother and 
sister-in-law, Riley and Sybil George; her sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie 
and Russell Anglin; and her sister-in-law, Klara George. One of her 
grandchildren wrote of her as she left this world, “She has left a deep mark on 
us all and given us a true example of how to be a truly loving person. I pray 
that all of us can live up to her example and remember her name when we each 
feel the need for a bit more patience and love to face a struggle on down the 
road in our time ahead.”

The funeral service will be 11AM Saturday, November 18, 2006 at First United 
Methodist Church. Rev. Mike McAfee will officiate. Interment to follow at 3 PM, 
in George Family Cemetery at New Hope Baptist Church in Early County, south of 
Blakely. The family will receive friends 5 PM to 7 PM Friday at Kimbrell-Stern 
Funeral Directors.
