Date of Birth: March 27, 1907  
Date of Death: April 02, 2006  

Mrs. Kate Rish Anthony, 99, of Sasser, died April 2, 2006 at Phoebe Putney 
Memorial Hospital. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday 
at Crown Hill Mausoleum. Rev Melvin Slappey officiating. 

Mrs. Anthony was born March 27, 1907 in Clay County; she was the daughter of 
the late Will and Elizabeth Anthony. She was a member of Sasser First Baptist 
Church since 1925. In her younger years Mama Kate, as she was affection ally 
called, worked at Steven’s Peanut Company in Dawson, also helped her husband in 
his Service Station for many years. She was very active in her church as well 
as the Willing Worker’s Club in Sasser. Her sons nicknamed her “Florence 
Nightingale” because of her Concern and care of anyone in the community who 
were sick or some other need. When a death occurred in the community she was 
always the first one to go and she never entered a strange kitchen. She was 
always right at home in anyone’s kitchen. 

Her husband Hugh Anthony and four sisters preceded her in death. Survivors 
include sons, William Anthony, Preston, Warren Anthony and his wife Helen, 
Sasser, Joe Rich Anthony and his wife Frances, Lawrenceville, Charles Anthony 
and his wife Frances, Ocala, Fl, Richard Anthony and his wife Beth, Ocala, Fl, 
12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. In 
lieu of flowers please make memorials to Sasser First Baptist Church or the 
Baptist Children’s Home in Meansville, GA.
