The Albany Hearald - January 1 2006
Albany- Walter Stephen "Steve" Adams, 80 of Albany, died Thrusday December 29 
2005 at Palymra Nursing Home.

 The Funeral service will be 2pm Monday at Kimbrell- Stern funeral Directors 
and interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens.  Ministers Jere via and 
Faron Hamner will officiate.

 A Native of Buena Vista, Mr. Adams has lived in Albany most of his life and he 
attendedDawson Road Church of Christ.  He entered the United States Navy, 
January 21, 1943 and on May 21, 1943 he went overseas being involved in the 
Pacific Theatre of Operation.  He saw engagements at Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and 
was decorated with the Presidential Citation.  He returned to Sasser, Ga. after 
serving 36 months of duty and became a Lock and Gunsmith.  He was employed with 
Albany Welding for more than 30 years, and retired from the Albany Herald press 
room with more than 12 years of service.  He was a great lover of Model 
Railroading and was a former member of Flint river Model Railroad Club.

 Survivors include his wife, Edna Ruth Adams of Albany; a son, Lawton Michael 
Johns; a daughter, Margaret Robinson and her husband Ralph, all of Myrtle 
Beach, SC; seven step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grand children; and two 
special friends, Hazel Mims and Neil Sword of Albany.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Thomas and Agnes Harbuck 
Adams, a brother, Curt Adams and his first wife, Lizzie Mae Watson Adams.

 The family will recieve friends from 4pm - 5pm today (Sunday) at Kimbrell-
Stern Funeral Directors.
