   Nancy Silver Allen
   Athens
      Nancy Silver Allen, 91, of 960 Hawthorne Ave. died Saturday, Aug.
   22, 1998.
      A native of Walker County, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late
   Della Norris and Charlie Silver and widow of Jake Ernest Allen. She
   was a homemaker and a member of Temple Baptist, Chattanooga, Tenn.,
   and First Baptist Church, Henegar, Ala.
      Services will be 11 a.m. today at Commerce Presbyterian Church with
   the Rev. Tom Lewis officiating. Graveside services will be 4 p.m.
   today in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Chattanooga, Tenn.
      Survivors include two sons, George Allen, Athens, and Lamar Allen,
   Dunellon, Fla.; a brother, David W. Silver, Woodstock; and four
   grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
      Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
   Tony J. Foss
   Augusta
      Tony J. Foss of 2910 Richmond Hill Road died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998.
      A native of Augusta, Mr. Foss was a son of Mary A. Foss. He was an
   attorney, a member of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens, and
   had served in the U.S. Army.
      Services will be 11 a.m. today at Elliot Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin
   Road Chapel, Augusta. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
      Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Ange
   Kahn-Foss, Colbert; four daughters, Joi Davidson, Alexandria, Va.,
   Emily F. Foss, Augusta, Amiee Kahn-Foss and Jolie Kahn-Foss, both of
   Colbert; a stepdaughter, Anne-Michelle Singleton, Colbert; a son,
   Russell L. Foss, Meridian, Miss,; a stepson, Donald L. Singleton,
   Seattle, Wash.; and two brothers, Jerry K. Foss, Avera, and Joseph E.
   Foss, Louisville.
      Pallbearers will be Michael Richards, Wayne Holton, James Wilson,
   Joey Foss, Gene Holton, Louis Swint, and Alvin Holton.
   James Franklin Hill
   Detroit
      James Franklin Hill, 75, of 3245 West Grand St. died Monday, Aug.
   17, 1998.
      A native of Clarke County, Mr. Hill was a son of the late Frank and
   Emma Harper Hill. He had lived in Detroit for 45 years and served in
   the U.S. Army during World War II.
      Services will be 11 a.m. today at Christ Cathedral Baptist Church
   with the Rev. Alfred M. Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in Mount
   Hope Memorial Gardens.
      Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean Hill, Detroit; a son,
   Carrell Hill, Detroit; three sisters, Sebelle Hill Jordan, Roxie Lou
   Hill Hawkins, and Emma Mae Hill Bolden, all of Athens; and a brother,
   Tommie Lee Hill, Athens.
      The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
      Winfrey's Mutual Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
   Ferd Tobe Sims
   Winder
      Ferd Tobe Sims, 78, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998.
      A native of Barrow County, Mr. Sims was a son of the late Sanford
   and Ruby Griffith Sims.
      Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home with the
   Rev. Hal Tapp officiating.
      Survivors include a niece, Sheila Woods, Winder and several great
   and great-great nieces and nephews.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American
   Association of the Blind.
   Grady Luther Smith
   Lula
      Grady Luther Smith, 69, of Old Cornelia Hwy. died Saturday, Aug.
   22, 1998.
      A native of Hall County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late James
   Thomas and Mae Saxon Smith. He retired after 35 years as a carpenter
   and was a member and deacon of Belton Baptist Church.
      Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Belton Baptist Church with the
   Revs. Henry Grady Barnes and Paul Morris officiating. The body will be
   placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the church
   cemetery.
      Survivors include his wife, Lucille Smith Smith; two sisters,
   Louella Thomas, Lula, and Christine Hulsey, Clermont; and two
   brothers, Wiley Smith and Harold Smith, both of Lula.
      The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at
   Whitfield Funeral Home, Baldwin.
   Billy Perry Steed
   Commerce
      Billy Perry Steed, 69, of 271 Toney Road died Saturday, Aug. 22,
   1998.
      A native of Barrow County, Mr. Steed was a son of the late Roy
   Steed and Ruby Webb Steed. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church,
   a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a retired warehouse foreman.
      Services will be 2 p.m today at Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev.
   Danny Greene officiating. Burial will be in Webbs Creek Baptist Church
   Cemetery.
      Survivors include his wife, Mary Toney Steed; two daughters, Linda
   Stevens, Commerce, and Brenda Hembree, Maysville; a stepdaughter,
   Toney Daniel, Gordon; a stepson, Gene Williams Jr., Commerce; four
   sisters, Jean Cothran Russell, Carnesville, Judy Sloan, Winterville,
   Carol Parker, Westminster, S.C., and Miriam Perry, Commerce; three
   brothers, Larry W. Steed, Marietta, Kenneth Steed, Atlanta, and Lavern
   Steed, Lawrenceville; and eight grandchildren and five
   great-grandchildren.
   Alice Turner
   Crawfordville
      Alice Dorothy Nash Turner, 81, of 320 Broad St. died Saturday, Aug.
   22, 1998.
      A native of Warrenton County, Mrs. Turner was a daughter of the
   late James Dearing Nash and Mattie Burton Nash and widow of Ernest B.
   Turner. She was a retired postmaster, member of Crawfordville Baptist
   Church, and the last resident of Liberty Hall.
      Services will be 3 p.m. today at Crawfordville Baptist Church with
   the Rev. Jimmy Water officiating. Burial will be in Crawfordville
   Cemetery.
      Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Ann Mahaffey, Bessemer,
   Ala., and Frances Louise Palmer, Eatonton; two sons, Brentz Turner,
   Rome, and David Turner, Oxford, Ala.; two sisters, Sara Ella Ambrosni,
   Fort Myers, Fla., and Martha V. Nash, San Diego, Calif.; a brother,
   Burt Thomas Nash, Kosciusko, Miss.; and five grandchildren and five
   great-grandchildren.
      Pallbearers will be Jimbo Mahaffey, Michael Turner, Gus Mayo, T.C.
   Harrington, Kermit Hocut, and Carson Moncrief. Honorary pallbearers
   will be K.W. Dye, Owen Lunceford, Sam Greene, Frank Mitchell III, Gray
   Fowler, Richard Fowler, Nelson Keller, Howard Keller, and Bobby
   Rocker. Callaway Funeral Home, Union Point, is in charge of
   arrangements.

      Lady B. Blackwell, 56, of 1660 Ray Brown Road died Saturday, Aug.
   22, 1998.
