   Donald Baskins
   Canon
      William Donald Baskins, 52, of 5417 Georgia Highway 17 died Monday,
   April 20, 1998.
      A native of Franklin County, Mr. Baskins was a son of Daisy
   McCollum Baskins of Canon and the late William Ellis Baskins. He was a
   carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pruitte Funeral
   Home, Royston, with the Revs. Eldon Massey and Leon Suttles
   officiating. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery.
      Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a brothers Paul Ed
   Baskins, Canon.
      Pallbearers will be Larry McCollum, Ricky Baskins, Ferrell Baskins,
   Wesley Baskins, Harmon Bennett and Ray Outz.
      The family members are at their respective homes and will receive
   friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
   Charles Berry
   Huntsville, Ala.
      Retired Army Maj. Charles William Berry died Monday, April 20,
   1998.
      A native of Crawford, Maj. Berry graduated from the University of
   Georgia and was commissioned in 1938 as a 2nd Lt. in the Army. He
   served in World War II and Korea, and retired from the Army and civil
   service at Redstone Arsenal. He was a member of First Presbyterian
   Church.
      Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Huntsville Memory
   Gardens with the Rev. Mel Strain officiating.
      Survivors include his wife, Alice MacFarlane Berry; two daughters,
   Nancy Berry Conwill, Knoxville, Tenn., and Pamela Berry Covert, Acton,
   Mass.; two sons, Charles William Berry, Overland Park, Kan., and
   William Early Berry, Huntsville, Ala.; two grandchildren and a
   great-grandchild.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Family Care,
   2225 Drake Ave., Suite 8, Huntsville, Ala. 35805.
      Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
   Andrew Brewer
   Alpharetta
      Andrew "Jack" Brewer, 79, died Monday, April 20, 1998.
      Mr. Brewer was a son of the late George L. and Emma Brewer and was
   the widower of Mildred Whitehead Brewer. An Army veteran of World War
   II, he was the retired owner of Brewer Grocery and a member of Statham
   First Baptist Church.
      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home,
   Winder, with the Rev. Gordon Thornton officiating. Burial will be in
   Barrow Memorial Gardens.
      Survivors include two daughters, Betty Ann Mitchell, Statham, and
   Linda McWhorter, Alpharetta; seven grandchildren and a
   great-grandchild.
   'Preacher' Carey
   Winterville
      Deacon Joseph "Preacher" Carey of 1015 Dunlap Road died Saturday,
   April 18, 1998.
      A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Carey was preceded in death by a
   daughter, Mattie Perrimon, and a granddaughter, Gwendolyn Stephens
   Austin. He served as a deacon and member of Billups Grove Baptist
   Church.
      Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Billups Grove
   Baptist Church with the Rev. B.K. Willis officiating. Burial will be
   in Athens Memory Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at
   noon.
      Survivors include his wife, Mable Harper Carey; two grandsons
   raised in the home, Norman James Austin and Rufus Smith, of the home;
   two nephews raised in the home, Will Watkins and George Watkins Sr.,
   both of Athens; two sisters, Dora Chapman, Detroit, Mich., and Mattie
   Roscoe, Atlanta; a brother, Alfonza Carey, Philadelphia, Penn.; seven
   grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren
   and nieces and nephews.
      Winfrey's Mutual Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
   Cottrell Fleming
   Elberton
      Cottrell Fleming of 2425 Hoke Dickerson Road died Saturday, April
   18, 1998.
      Mr. Fleming was a son of the late Richard and Mamie Thornton
   Fleming and was the widower of Barbara Harper Fleming. He was a member
   of Norman Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Norman Grove CME Church
   with the Revs. Joseph Earls, Arthur Norman and Bristol Hightower.
   Burial will be in the church cemetery.
      Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Calhoun, Elberton, and
   Audrey Hunley, Atlanta; five sons, Marshall Fleming, Rondle Fleming
   and Edward Fleming, all of Elberton, and Harold Fleming and James
   Fleming, both of Hartwell; two sisters, Naomi Allen, Cleveland, Ohio,
   and Elease Jones, Hartwell; a brother, Holman Fleming, Elberton; 26
   grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
      Pallbearers will be Hubert Fleming, Lindberg Oglesby, Leon
   Morrison, O'Neal Fleming, Larry Teasley and Leroy Banks. Honorary
   pallbearers will be grandsons. Flower bearers will be Hazel Allen,
   Lena Oglesby, Mildred Dalton, Genel Shifflette, Thelma Harper, Doris
   Allen, Velma Durrett, Irlene Jones, Geneva Curry, Lois Dye, Beverly
   Harper and Inell Allen. Honorary flower bearers will be
   granddaughters.

   Roanoke, Va.
      Nathan Christopher Head of 4555 Ray St. died Sunday, April 19,
   1998.
      Nathan was a son of Chris and Betsy Frost Head of Roanoke.
      Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Dry Pond United
   Methodist Church Cemetery, Dry Pond, with the Rev. Phillip Williams
   officiating.
      Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two sisters, Abby
   Head and Tori Head, both of Roanoke; and his grandmothers, Mera Head,
   Dry Pond, and Sarah Frost, Dublin.

      Henry Grady Lord Sr., 60, of Route 2, Rogers Mill Road, died
   Tuesday, April 21, 1998.
      A native of Madison County, Mr. Lord was a son of Fannie J. Lord
   and the late Hope Lord.
      Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Providence
   Baptist Church Cemetery.
      Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two daughters, Kathy
   Audulewicz, Ila, and Linda Lord, Danielsville; a son, Henry Grady
   "Jukie" Lord Jr., Commerce; a sister, Carolyn Hardy, Commerce; two
   brothers, David Lord, Danielsville, and Roy Lee Lord, Ila; six
   grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
      Pallbearers will be David Graham, Nathan Lord, Randy Lord, Nelson
   Allen, Billy Angel and Larry Gaddis.
      The family is at the home of Kathy Audulewicz, Georgia Highway 98,
   and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home.
   Hazel K. Slater

      Hazel K. Slater, 63, of 105 Willbough Homes died Tuesday, April 21,
   1998.
      A native of Carnesville, Mrs. Slater was a daughter of the late
   Hoyt and Myrtie Nations Kitchens. She was employed by Strickland's BBQ
   as a restaurant worker.
      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ivie Funeral Home
   with the Revs. Charles Elrod and Vaughn Howington officiating. Burial
   will be in Grey Hill Cemetery.
      Survivors include her husband, Willie Slater; two daughters, Cathy
   Kitchens and Cristy Kitchens, both of Commerce; a son, Lee Kitchens,
   Commerce; five sisters, Lou Trell Booth, Hull, Ethelene Brock,
   Braselton, Eula Mae Clark, Washington, Gertrude Grizzle, Carnesville,
   and Johnnie Jarrard, Eastanollee; and four brothers, Gartrell Kitchens
   and Howard Kitchens, both of Jefferson, J.D. Kitchens, Hull, and L.B.
   Kitchens, Commerce.

      Ruby Power Sharp, 89, of Route 2, Patterson-Sorrow Road, died
   Tuesday, April 21, 1998.
      Mrs. Sharp was a daughter of the late Jim and Minnie Brown Power
   and was the widow of Zimmie B. Sharp. She was a homemaker and a member
   of Colbert Baptist Church.
      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Colbert Baptist
   Church with the Rev. Don Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Hull
   Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will placed in the church at 1:30
   p.m.
      Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Brown and
   Rebecca Sharp, Colbert; a sister, Ruth Thompson, Colbert; three
   grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
      The family is at 1512 Patterson-Sorrow Road and will receive
   friends 6-8 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville.
