     Blanche Free
     Athens
     
     Blanche Free "Granny Seabolt," 90, of 2150 S. Milledge Ave., died
     Monday, Sept. 2, 1996.
     
     A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Free was a daughter of the late
     John H. and Nancy E. Smith. She was a member of Whitehall Baptist
     Church and the adult Sunday school class.
     
     Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral
     Home chapel, East. The Rev. Buford Lockman will officiate. Burial
     will be in Beaver Dam Cemetery, Banks County.
     
     Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Linda
     Seabolt, Athens; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Lowe,
     Arnoldsville; a daughter, Gladys Lassiter, Watkinsville; a brother,
     Alton Smith, Jefferson; five grandchildren, Debra Lassiter,
     Watkinsville, Teresa Sheffer and her husband, Lloyd, of
     Lawrenceville, George E. Seabolt, Cincinnati, Ohio, Jason Lowe, and
     Chris Lowe and his wife, Christa, all of Arnoldsville; and two
     great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Abigail Sheffer, Lawrenceville.
     
     Pallbearers will be Charles McGalliard, Walter Brooks, Bud Carson,
     Curtis Hammond, Johnny Simmons and Frank Grimm.
     
     Honorary pallbearers will be members of the adult Sunday school
     class of Whitehall Baptist Church.
     Hazel Richtmyer
     Melbourne, Fla.
     
     Hazel W.K. Richtmyer, 102, died Friday, Aug. 30, 1996.
     
     Mrs. Richtmyer was preceded in death by her husband, Earl G.
     Richtmeyer. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine
     Zonta and the Elijah Clarke Chapter of the National Society of the
     Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the
     Athens First United Methodist Church. She was an artist and
     belonged to the Athens Art Society. She studied art under Clara
     Nelson at Alfred University.
     
     Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Athens First United
     Methodist with Dr. Garnett Wilder officiating.
     
     Survivors include two daughters, Renee Robinson, Melbourne, and
     Elaine Brown, Athens; a son, William Richtmyer, Pembroke Pines,
     Fla.; a sister, Miriam Pries, Canton, N.Y.; a brother, Harold M.
     Kreason, Hornell, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and 10
     great-grandchildren.
     
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Athens First United
     Methodist Church or to Lanier Gardens.
     
     Cocoa Funeral Home, Cocoa, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
     Mary R. Alexander
     Bogart
     
     Mary Roquemore Alexander, 93, formerly of Athens, died Monday,
     Sept. 2, 1996.
     
     A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Alexander was a daughter of the
     late John Wilkes and Lula Bell Lavender Roquemore. She was married
     to the late R. Reed Alexander. She was preceded in death by a son,
     Joseph P. Alexander who was killed in action during World War II.
     She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
     
     Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Evergreen Memorial
     Park, Athens, with the Rev. J. Hunter Coleman officiating.
     
     Survivors include three sons, Robert D. Alexander, Gainesville,
     Fla., Charles C. Alexander, Baldwin, and George D. Alexander,
     London, Ohio; a sister, Nancy Roquemore Wood, Yorktown, Va.; 11
     grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
     nephews.
     
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Presbyterian
     Church, 380 Alps Road, Athens, Ga. 30606.
     
     The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. today at
     Bridges Funeral Home, Athens.
     Dorothy P. Kennedy
     Stockbridge
     
     Dorothy Paul Kennedy, 75, died Monday, Sept. 2, 1996.
     
     A native of Comer, Mrs. Kennedy was a dental assistant for Drs.
     Jaynes and Goldstein.
     
     Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Horis A. Ward's
     Funeral Home, Fairview Chapel, with the Rev. Robin Booth
     officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
     
     Survivors include her husband, Frank T. Kennedy; a son, Gary Paul,
     Athens; two daughters, Connie Street, Lawrenceville, and Sandra
     Godwin, Haralson; two stepdaughters; a sister, Kathleen Caman,
     Tignall; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and several
     great-grandchildren.
     Almond Smith
     Winder
     
     Almond Smith, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1996.
     
     A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late
     Asbery and Cora P. Smith.
     
     Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home
     chapel with the Rev. Greg Moore officiating. Burial will be in
     Barrow Memorial Gardens.
     
     Survivors include three daughters, Shelia Garret and Judy Crowe,
     both of Winder, and Linda Kye Smith, Statham; four brothers, Enoch
     Smith and Otis Smith, both of Winder, Jim Smith, Bethlehem, and
     John Smith, Cedartown; two sisters, Elizabeth Griffeth, Bethlehem,
     and Georgia Smith, Winder; eight grandchildren; and seven
     great-grandchildren.
     Eula Walker
     Athens
     
     Eula Walker, 80, of 246 Holmes Ave., died Friday, Aug. 30, 1996.
     
     A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Walker was a daughter of the late
     Ance and Mattie Jones Walker.
     
     Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Springfield Baptist
     Church with the Rev. Ben Rivers officiating. Burial will be in East
     Lawn Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
     
     Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Walker, Philadelphia; a
     granddaughter, raised in the home, Angela D. Walker; five sons,
     Nathaniel Eberheart, Jacksonville, Fla., Ralph Walker, Andy Walker,
     Michael Walker and Donald Walker, all of Athens; two brothers,
     Ralph Eberheart, Thomasville, N.C., and Andrew Eberheart, Athens;
     and five grandchildren.
     
     The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at Mack & Payne
     Funeral Home.
     Jessie Lee Manders
     Winder
     
     Jessie Lee Manders, 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1996.
     
     A native of Gwinnett County, Mr. Manders was a son of the late
     James C. and Sally Tuggle Manders and widow of Alma Deaton Manders.
     He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and the Woodmen of
     the World. He was a retired residential building contractor.
     
     Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Carter-Stewart Funeral
     Home with the Revs. John Talley and Kenneth Deaton officiating.
     Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
     
     Survivors include a daughter, Joan Ellington Ledbetter, Winder; two
     sons, C. Larry Manders, Winder, and Thomas Aaron Manders,
     Doraville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a
     stepgrandchild.
     Ruth C. Rumsey
     Eastanollee
     
     Ruth Cheek Rumsey, 85, of Rumsey Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1996.
     
     A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Rumsey was a daughter of the late
     Allen and Lela Davis Cheek. She was a member of Toms Creek Baptist
     Church and the Sunshine Sunday school class. She was retired from
     Lullaby Furniture Co.
     
     Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Toms Creek Baptist
     Church with the Revs. Clack Stubbs, V.A. Merck and Kenneth Moon
     officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will
     be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.
     
     Survivors include her husband, Kilburn Rumsey; a sister, Mozell
     Davis, Toccoa; and several nieces and nephews.
     
     Pallbearers will be David Herron, Johnny Williams, Lee Griswawl,
     Lamar Davis, Allen Davis and John Stowe.
     
     The family is at the residence.
     
     Whitlock Mortuary, Toccoa, is in charge of arrangements.

     Augusta
     
     Kenneth Burgess, 56, of Heritage House, formerly of Athens, died
     Saturday, Aug. 31, 1996.
     
     Mr. Burgess was a native of Barrow County.
     
     Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Evergreen Memorial
     Park with the Rev. Jon Roark officiating.
     
     Survivors include a brother, Phil Burgess, Lawrenceville.
     
     Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
