Drive, Carrollton, died Dec. 30, 2002. Born July 10,
1909, Carroll Co., d/o the late Robert and Laura Morris
Jacobs. She was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist
Church. She was precede in death by her husband, Paul
Jackson, and a son, Taylor Jackson. Survivors: her sons
and daughters-in-law, Charles and Sherry Jackson of
Graham, Ala., and Paul and Charlotte Jackson of Bonita
Springs, Fla., ; daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and
Danny Federer of Carrollton; five grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren; and a sister Connie Jackson

WADE Pauline Lackey Wade, 84, of Douglasville died Dec.
30, 2002. Born Jan. 2m 1918, Akron, Ohio, d/o the late
Ira and Ollie Bell Robinson Lackey. She was a Methodist
and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Wade, one
sister and four brothers. Survivors: her daughter and
son-in-law, Barbara and Edwin Hembree of Douglaville;
four brothers, three grandchildren, 10 great-
grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

WAGES Barbara W. Wages, 69, of 91 Conner Drive, Villa
Rica, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002. Born Feb. 10, 1933, a
native of Atlanta, d/o the late Lamar Williams and Nell
Williams. She was Catholic by faith and was retired
from BellSouth. Survivors: her husband Bill Wages;
daughter, Billie Ann Wages of Villa Rica; son and
daughter-in-law, Robert and Shirley Wages of
Douglasville; sister, Beverly Monroe of Lawrenceville;
three grandchildren, one great-grandchild,  and several

CLARK Helen Clark Williams, 73, of 76 Ronald Clark
Williams Rd., Carrollton, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002.
Born May 19, 1929, Carroll Co., d/o Ralph Moore and
Ruth Cadwell Moore. She was the chiel dietitian for
Tanner Medical Center for 26 years and retired from the
Bowdon Area Hospital after 10 years of service. She
also was a Member of Peachtree Baptist Church. She was
preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ronald D.
Williams. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Joan
and Jimmy Boatrightof Bowdon, Janice and Sloan Barrow
of Mt. Zion and Marianne Harris of Carrollton; sons and
daughters-in-law, Mark and Sue Clark of Bowdon and Alan

1, 2003. Born Sept. 22, 1936, Haralson Co., s/o Jospeh
Brown and Jessie Hazlewood Brown. He was former
employed by Sewell Manufacturing Co., for 34 yrs.
emplyee of Bremen Trousers, co-chairman and past master
of Draketown Masonic Lodge, deacon and coir director of
Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church. He was
precede in death by his parents; brothers, Carl Brown,
Edward Brown, William Brown; and sister Vera Tilley.
Survivors: his wife Selma Jean Hamrick Brown of Bremen;

Buchanan, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 Born April 10,
1967, in Carroll Co. s/o Joseph Henry Cash and Ellen
Holcombe Cash of Buchanan. Mr. Cash was a brick mason.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother,
Henry Clell Cash. Survivors: his mother; daughter,

preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bessie Dutton;

and Lomason Co. and a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband

MANN Tommy Hugh Mann, 92, 1163 Mann Rd. Douglasville,
died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003. Born May 6, 1910, a
native of Douglas Co., s/o John Henry Mann and
Elizabeth Willoughby Mann. He was Baptist by faith and
worked for Cannon Casket Company in Villa Rica for
several years. Survivors: his wife, Emma Taylor Hall;
daughters, Carolyn Kell of Douglasville, Jane Davison
of Temple, Jolaine Fickin of Tawakoni, Tx.; sister-in-
law, Mrs. George Mann of Carrollton; and a number of

PERSHING Ruth Ann Knollenberg Pershing, 85, of

1917, in richmond, Ind. She was preceded in death by
her husband, John J. (Jack) Persing, former dean at
Georgia Tech, Emory University and West Georgia
College. Surviviors: her daughter, Pt Newman of
Economy, Ind.; son, John J. Pershing Jr. of Carrollton;

SHERBERT Jane Elizabeth Sherbert, 49, Pollar Rd.,
Temple, died Dec. 31, 2002. Born April 10, 1953,
Harlason Co., d/o the late Barney Glen Harper and
Lucille Ploff Kilgore. She was employed with Twisters

Oct. 16, 1914, Carroll Co., d/o w. Burns Griffin and
Elizabeth Shadinger Griffin. She retired from Roopvile
Elementary School having served as a lunch room lady
for many years. She also was a member of Roopville Road
Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband, J. Herman Butler, who passed away
Feb. 25, 1999; son, Sherman D. Butler, four sisters,
Ora Widener, Ollie Mae Eidson, Ethelene Eidson and
Hazel Ayers; two brothers, Erette Griffin and Raymond
Griffin; and son-in-law, Thomap "Pete" Brown.

Ricky Reeves; brother, Charles Cox, all of Carrollton
and husbands Arlin Reeves and Randy Manatt. Survivors:
daughter, Shirley Warden of Boise, Idaho; son Tyrone
Reeves of muscogee, Okal.; sister, Mildred McLoud of
Kingman, Ariz.; three brothers, J. D. Hyatt of
Jefferson, Ga., James Hyatt of Snellville, Ga. and John
Hyatt of Villa Rica; grandchildren; great-grandchildren

Tommy Hugh MANN, 92, 1163 Mann Road, Douglasville, died
Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003. Born May 6, 1910, Douglas

Mrs. Eleanor Sheats HUBBARD, age 88, of Marietta, Ga.,
died on January 2, 2003. Born d/o Irma Brock Sheats and
Warren Harry Sheats. She was a 1932 graduate of
Carrollton High School, attended Shorter College and
graduated from the University of Alabama, a member of
Alpha Gamma Sorority. She enjoyed gardening, bridge,
travel and golf. She was a member of  the Ladies Golf
Assoc. of Newnan Country Club, Newnan Hospital
Auxiliary, Central Baptist Church and a long-time
Sunday School teacher, a member of Reading Circle and
taught Adult Education Classes. She was preceded in
death by her Husband, Richard Buel ( Slick) Hubbard
Jr., son Harry Sheats Hubbard, and daughter Frances
Eleanor Hubbard. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law,
Richard Buel  (Janet) Hubbard III  of Marietta, and Dr.
Charles N. (Marilyn)  Hubbard of Carrollton;
grandchildren Richard Buel Hubbard IV, Elizabeth Lynn
Hubbard, Charles Ellis Hubbard, Benjamin Lee Hubbard

Ruth Zachery BAILEY, born in Hulett,  February 15,
1906, d/o the late Charlie and Fannie Zachery. She
married Charles Brinston Bailey on December 21, 1930.
She was a member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church, a
member of the Usher board and Home Missionary Socity.
She organized the Villa Rica Community Club. Besides
her parents and husband, she was precede in death by
two daughters, Jeanette Marsh and Mary A. Lee; two
sisters, Willie Chism and Ada Geter: five grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren. Survivors: her children
and their spouses, Fred (Sinh) Bairly of Milan, N.M.
Mildred Turner of Dayton, Ohio, Charles (Linda) Bairley
of Decatur, Floyd (Frances) Bailey of Villa Rica,

Henry Olin FOSTER SR., 93, of Douglasville, died
January 3, 2003. Born July 4, 1909, in Cook Springs,
Ark., s/o the late Cornelious Foster and Etta Webster
Foster. He retired from Georgia Power Co., as a lineman
and was A NAVY VETERAN OF WORLD WAR II.  He was a
member of Douglasville Second Baptist Church and a
deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Chloe
Glenice Huddleston Foster. Survivors: her son, H. O.
Foster, Jr. opf Lilburn: step-son, Waler Elmer Arthur
of Bowdon; sisters, Mary Stokes of Marietta and Lucille
Gunnells of Port Wentworth, GA.; seven grandchildren

CRAWFORD Wilbur W. Crawford, 80, of 929 Wayside Road,
Carrollton, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003. Born Sept. 9,
1922, Carroll Co., Ga. s/o the late Stonewall Jackson
Crawford and Pearlie Boatright Crawford. He was a
member of Bethany Christian Church. He retired from
Ford Motor Co., after 30 years in the auto assembley
plant in Hapeville. He was a member of United Auto
Workers and WAS AN ARMY VETERAN OF WORLD WAR II.
Survivers: his wife Mary Jean Driver Crawford; Son, Tim
Crawford; daughter, Lynn Crawford; daughter and son-in-
law, Lesie and Glenn Brown, all of Carrollton;
stepdaughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ike Latimer
of Carrollton; stepsons and daughters-on-law, Kerry and
Caroline Gantt, and Ronnie Gantt, all of Vicksburg,
Miss.; five grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Juanita

GOTT Dr. Prentice Lay Gott, 74, of Bowling Green, Ky.,
died Jan. 4, 2003. son of the late Amos Guffey Gott and
Gertrude Lay Gott. He was a native of Warren Co. and a
retired professor and farmer. He recieved an
undergraduate and graduatedegree from Western Kentucky
University and was a recipient of a doctorate degree
from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. After
serving several principal and superintendent postions
he joined West Georgia College as an associate
professor of education. In 1968 he ebcame professor and
head of the Dept. of Teacher Education. He Served as
assistant dean of the college of Education at West
Geroga College. He was awarded the status of professor
emeritus on behalf of the college and univeristies of
the State of Georgia in 1985 and in 1998 was given the
State University of West Georgia's Outstanding Retired
Professor award. He was a member and former elder of
Lehman Avenue Church of Christ. Survivors: wife,

Couch Hembree. He was a lifetime resident of this area
andSERVED IN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE DURING WORLD
WAR II.  He was a self-employed residential building
contractor for 35 yrs. before retiring. He was a member
of the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch and a life member
of Disabled american Veterans and a member of the
Commanders club of Disabled American Veterans. In

Villa Rica died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003. Born Aug. 31,
1934, Acworth, d/o the late Jesse Lemon Smith and the
late Mrs. Mamie Louise Smith. She was a Security guard
for Southwire Company for a number of years and was of
the Baptist faith. Survivors: her husband, Hubert G.
Cantrell of Temple; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda

Jan. 28, 2003. A native of Atlanta he atteneded
Kennesaw State University. He was a residential and
commercial carpenter and attended St. Catherine of iena

HARDIMAN Robert Berry Hardiman, 74, of Villa Rica, died
Jan. 26, 2003. Born May 13, 1928, Nashville, Tenn., s/o
the late Odus B. Hardiman and the late Mrs. Calley
Bumpus Hardiman. Hew was a member of St. Pius Catholic
Church in conyers and a civel engineer for the Rockdale
Co. D.O.T. He received a bachelor's degree in civil
enjineering from Tennessee Tech in Cookville, Tenn, in
1955. HE SERVED IN THE U.S. ARMY DURING THE KOREAN
CONFLICT. Survivors: his wife of 44 years, Dorothy
Hardiman of Villa Rica; daughters and sons-in-law,

1940, Carroll Co., s/o the late Albert Gladys Warren
and Ruby Chambers Warren. He was a retired Carroll Co.
Firefighter having served from 1976 until 1990, and was
a member of Ephesus Christian Church. Besides his
parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother,
Bessie R. Della Warren; and two brothers, Verlin Alton
Warren and Travis Warren. Survivors: brothers and
