    John R. Gunter, 62, of Albany died Feb. 27, 2010, at his
 residence.
  Born Jan. 10, 1948, he was a native of Valdosta and had
 lived in Albany most of his life where he was a member and
 former deacon of Central Baptist Church. He was a former IRS
 agent, owner of The Tax Shop for 38 years, and a former Anchorage
 board member. He was a graduate of Valdosta High
 School where he played football for the high school team with
 the most wins. He was a graduate of Valdosta State University
 where he was a member of Kappa Phi Fraternity and was
 named “Brother of the Year.” He served in the U. S. Army National
 Guard and considered himself an avid world traveler. He
 will always be remembered for his love of traveling.
  Survivors include his wife, Katie Gunter of Albany; daughter
 and son-in-law, Haley G. and Jim King of Albany; grandchildren,
 Mason and Savannah King of Albany; sister, Beverly
 Gulley of Chicago, IL.
  Funeral services were held March 2 at 2 p.m. at Kimbrell-
 Stern Funeral Directors.
 Entombment followed in Crown Hill Cemetery.
 Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association,
 5962 Zebulon Rd. # 359, Macon, GA 31210 or American Diabetes
 Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA
 22311.
  Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors of Albany was in charge of
 arrangements.
