Kimbrell Stern Funeral Home Announcements - 2005
Howard Darst Barnard, Jr., 95 , died Saturday July 30, 2005,at the Presbyterian 
Home in Quitman, GA. The son of Howard Darst and Maude Perry Barnard, he was 
born Dec. 9, 1909, in Omaha, Nebraska. At age 19, he received a law degree from 
the University of Omaha and was a lifetime member of the Nebraska Bar 
Association. 
Mr. Barnard moved to Albany, GA, in 1936 where he lived for sixty-six years 
prior his move to Quitman in 2002. He was affiliated with Cudahy Packing Co. 
and Lilliston Implement Co. from which he retired in 1975. He then became co-
owner and operator of Trinity Travel in Albany. He was an active member of the 
Albany Kiwanis Club and an elder in the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany. 
At the time of his death he was a member of the Boston (GA) Presbyterian 
Church. Mr. Barnard was predeceased by his first wife, Theodosia Donaldson 
Barnard and a sister, Eleanor Barnard Blalock. He is survived by his wife, the 
former Laura Fischer Barnard, and two children, USAF Col. (ret.) Howard D. 
Barnard III and his wife Connie of Surfside Beach, SC, and Doty Barnard Dunn 
and her husband JD of Statesboro, GA; a step-daughter, Carol “Pixie” Gray and 
her husband David of Gainesville, GA; two grandchildren, Beth Blum and her 
husband Buck of Hartsville, SC, and Howard D. Barnard IV and his wife Julie of 
Greenville, SC, and four great grandchildren. Memorials may be made in his name 
to Odyssey Hospice, 1001 Williams St., Valdosta, GA 31601 or the Kiwanis 
Foundation, 3636 Woodview Trace, Indianapolis, IN 46268.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery 
with the Rev. Donald J. West officiating.
