        Mildred Hart Shaw, 91, of 2778 Patterson Road died Sunday, March
     25, 2001.
        A native of Casaus, NM, Mrs. Shaw was a daughter of the late
     William Lee and Pearl Barker Hart and was the widow of James Earl
     Shaw. She had lived in the Athens area for the past year and was
     retired as a book reviewer from the Daily Sentinel Newspaper, Grand
     Junction.
        Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. April 14 at Callahan-Edfast
     Mortuary, Grand Junction.
        Survivors include a son, J. Scott Shaw, Athens; a brother, Lee
     Hart Lynwood, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
        In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the library of
     choice for the purchase of books.

        Mary Sue Sauls, 90, died Sunday, March 25, 2001.
        A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Sauls was a daughter of the
     late James L. Magness and Narcy Turk Magness, and the widow of
     Robert L. Sauls. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Sauls.
     She was a retired seamstress from Carwood Manufacturing Co. and was
     a member of Union Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Smith's Funeral Home with
     the Rev. Mike Mimms officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist
     Church cemetery.
        Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Barnes and Reba Elrod,
     both of Winder; an adopted daughter, Peggy Gaston, Winder; two
     sons, Robert ''Bobby'' Sauls, Dahlonega, and Kenneth Sauls, Winder;
     two sisters, Johnnie Lou Magness and Eurilla Deaton, both of
     Winder; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and
     nephews.

     United Methodist Church, Athens, with the Rev. Russell Repetski
     officiating.
        Survivors include four daughters, Carol Milligan, Betty Jean
     Biringer, Jerry Starling and Marie Kubitz; five grandchildren; and
     eight great-grandchildren.

     the church.

        John Ray ''Big John'' Harris, 48, of 137 Justin Road died
     Sunday, March 25, 2001.
        A native of Hart County, Mr. Harris was a son of Dot Tallent
     Harris King, Hartwell, and the late Jimmy Frank Harris. He was
     preceded in death by a stepson, Jeff Goldsmith. He was a self
     employed painter and was of the Church of God faith.
        Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Mount Olivet Church of God
     with the Rev. Wayne Durden and Dr. F. Hugh Kirby officiating. The
     body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in
     the church cemetery.
        Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his stepfather,
     Clyde L. King, Hartwell; his wife, Jimmie Sue Norris Goldsmith
     Harris; a daughter, Stephanie K. Saylors, Hartwell; a son, John R.
     Harris Jr., Hartwell; a stepson, Steve Goldsmith, Hartwell; three
     brothers, Dennis Harris, Jerry Harris and Roger Harris, all of
     Hartwell; a grandchild; and three step-grandchildren.

     Lawrence John Nachtrab. She graduated from Central City High
     School, Central City, Neb., in 1934 and was a retired teacher. She
     was a member of Athens First Presbyterian Church.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Park with
     the Rev. Tom Lang officiating.
        Survivors include a nephew, Robert Lee Hunter, Bellevue, Neb.;
     and a sister-in-law, Helen Hunter, Grand Island, Neb.

     Jack Armstrong Sr. and Martha Flagg Armstrong and was the widower
     of Willie B. Armstrong. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist
     Church.
        Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Baptist
     Church with the Rev. Tommy Hall officiating. The body will be
     placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen
     Memorial Park.
        Survivors include two daughters, Ethel M. Brown and Debra J.
     Armstrong, both of Watkinsville; two sons, Robert Lee Armstrong,
     Athens, and David Lee Armstrong, Watkinsville; five sisters, Martha

        Nancy Lindsay Feldmann, 68, of 2510 Wexford Road died Wednesday,
     March 21, 2001.
        A native of Athens, Mrs. Feldmann was a daughter of Lois
     Anderson Lindsay Rouse, Fayetteville, and the late Hugh Lindsay.
     She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Feldmann. She had resided
     in Albany for the past 40 years and was a member of St. Paul's
     Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Albany-Dougherty Board of
     Elections, having served as chairperson, and was a volunteer at
     Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
        Services were held March 23 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with
     the Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Downs officiating. Burial will in Crown Hill
     Cemetery.
        Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband,
     Walter ''Hank'' Feldmann; four daughters, Rosemary Long,
     Tallahassee, Fla., Karen Schlageter, Lilburn, Laura Gaines,
     Sarasota, Fla., and Jennifer Pritchett, Atlanta; a sister, Lucy
     Golden, Fayetteville; and eight grandchildren.

        Robert Harry Frederick, 76, of 109 Scurrey Court, formerly of
     Lavonia, died Sunday, March 25, 2001.
        A native of Stark County, Ohio, Mr. Frederick was a son of the
     late George Casper and Rosa Amelia Vossick Frederick. He was
     retired from Eastern Airlines having served in a management
     capacity. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was of the
     Methodist faith.
        Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hamby Funeral Home,
     Lavonia, with Dr. Sheila Bookout-Hunt officiating. Entombment will
     be in Forst Lawn Cemetery, Anderson, S.C.
        Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie James Frederick; two
     daughters, Sandra Fulton, Huntersville, N.C., and Pamela Frederick,
     Lithonia; a son, Robert James Frederick, Cumming; four
     grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

     Frank Szabo. She was a homemaker and was a member of Sacred Heart
     of Jesus Catholic Church.
        Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred
     Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Terence Kane
     officiating. Burial will be in the Church Memorial Garden.
        Survivors include a son, David Frank Szabo, Charlotte, S.C.; a
     sister, Grace Van Fleet, Mount Morris, Mich.; two brothers, Albert
     Chizick, Lincoln Park, Mich., and Alex Chizick, Livonia, Mich.
        The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends
     from 7-9 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home. The Rosary service
     will be held at 8:30 p.m.

        Mr. Robert Francis Bird, Jr., Loganville, passed away on Sunday,
     March 25, 2001, at the age of 89. He was born on April 7, 1911, and
     grew up in Madison County, the only child of Robert F. Bird, Sr.,
     and Ona Freeman Bird. He graduated from the Business school of the
     University of Georgia in 1932 and was an accountant. He was an avid
     golfer in Athens, Gainesville, and Stone Mountain. He was a member
     of Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church, Ila, GA. He is survived by his
     wife of 60 years, Doris Richardson Bird, originally of Forest Park;
     two daughters, Rosalyn Ward, Loganville, and Helen and Michael
     Schuler of Grayson; four grandchildren, Teresa Ward Pridgen, CA,
     Jason Ward, Atlanta, Steven Schuler, Grayson, and Jennifer Schuler,
     Grayson; and one great grandchild, Torsten Pridgen.
        Visitation will be held at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Snellville
     Chapel, on Tuesday, March 27 between 6-8 p.m. Graveside services
     will be held Wednesday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial
     Park, Athens, GA, with Rev. Susan Reggin officiating. In lieu of
     flowers, donations may be made to either Mount Hermon Presbyterian

        Dr. Almon Collins, 89, died Saturday, March 24, 2001.
        Born in Conway he was the son of the late Needham Collins and
     Sarah Elizabeth Watts Collins. He was a member of Grace Baptist
     Church. He was a top salesman for Metropolitan Life Insurance
     Company, where he was a member of the Million Dollar Round Table
     and was in sales and management. He was involved in prison
     ministries in Lexington, Richland and State prisons. He was a
     member of Christian Businessman's Association, the Gideons
     International and the Open Air Campaign sponsored by Moody College
     of Chicago.
        Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at 2 p.m.
     at Grace Baptist Church. Internment will follow in Greenlawn
     Memorial Park.
        He is survived by his wife, Frances Sheppard Collins; two sons,
     Tim Collins and his wife Kitty H. of Athens, Ga., and Robin Collins
     and wife Sandra H. of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, June C. Kemmerlin
     and her husband, Dr. Rudolph H. of Mt. Pleasant; seven
     grandchildren, Timothy Andrew Collins, Mary Katherine Collins,
     Robin Bryan Collins, Timothy Hutson Collins, Rudolph H. Kemmerlin
     Jr., Cynthia K. Nigro and Karl C. Kemmerlin; and four
     great-grandchildren.

                            Constance Adele Hale

        Constance Adele Hale, a native of East Orange, New Jersey and an
     Athens area resident for most of her life, died March 25, 2001, she
     was 91. Mrs. Hale was the daughter of the late Mr. Perseus Leo and
     Mary Jessie Young Munford. She was the widow of the late Mr. Samuel
     Alva Hale Sr. Mrs. Hale was a member of the Bethlehem First Baptist
     Church, a charter member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors, and of
     the Daughters of the American Revolution, Elijah Clarke Chapter.
     She was the Red Cross Chairman for Clarke County schools, made
     surgical dressings for the Canadian Red Cross before America was
     involved in World War II, and worked for Civil Defense.
        Mrs. Hale is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Mary and
     John Spencer of Statham, GA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Samuel
     A. Hale Jr. of Panama City, FL and Robert N. and Elaine Hale of
     Athens, GA; seven grandchildren, Katherine, Karen and Daniel
     Spencer of Statham, GA, Elizabeth Ann Hale of Panama City, FL,
     Norman Bruce Gregory of Sanford, FL, and Amy West and Robert N.
     Hale Jr of Bogart, GA; five great-grandchildren, Brittany D. Hale
     of Spokane, Washington, Sam and Emily West of Bogart, GA, Kimberly
     Hale of Bogart, GA and Zach Hale of Bogart, GA.
        The family will receive friends at Bridges Funeral Home Tuesday,
     March 27 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Mrs. Hale will lie in state for
     one hour at the church before the funeral service. The funeral
     service will be held at Bethlehem First Baptist Church Wednesday,
     March 28, at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Jody Hice and the Rev. Mike Peavy
     officiating. Deacons from the church will be serving as
     pallbearers. The Faith Sunday School Class will be acting as
     honorary pallbearers. Internment will follow in Evergreen Memorial
     Park.

     Baptist Church, P.O. Box 187, Bethlehem, GA 30620.
