        A native of Madison County, Mrs. Stowers was a daughter of the
     late Clint and Nancy Ray Bridges, and was a widow of Neal Stowers.
     She was a retired machine operator and inspector for the Hartwell
     Garment Company and was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist
     Church.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coldwater United
     Methodist Church with the Revs. Stan Hamilton, Ben Sorrow, and Wade
     Bridges officiating.
        Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Dyal, Elberton, and
     Teresa Gowder, Hartwell; a son, Ray Stowers, Hartwell; a sister,
     Era Bryant, Greenwood, S.C.; two brothers, Hugh Bridges, and W.T.
     Bridges, both of Elberton; six grandchildren and a
     great-granddaughter.

     United Methodist Church.
        Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Burts United Methodist
     Church with the Rev. Ken Fuller officiating. Burial will be in the
     church cemetery.
        Survivors include her husband, Loyd Evess Mathews; two sons,
     Robert Mathews, Crawford, and Douglas Mathews, Rayle; two sisters,
     Clara Bogs, Stephens, and Marietta Griffith, Lexington; a brother,
     Kelly McCannon, Lexington; and four grandchildren.

     of the Baptist faith.

     specialist. While in service, he received a Bronze Arrowhead Medal,
     the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze
     Battle Stars, the American Theater Ribbon, and a World War II
     Victory Medal. He was retired from Harmony Grove Mills with 30
     years service. He was a cattle farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

     with the Rev. Perry Smith officiating.

                                Robert Brock
                                 Jefferson 
                                      
        Robert Lee Brock, 54, of 337 Stringer Lane died Thursday, May
     24, 2001.
        A native of Jackson County, Mr. Brock was a the son of the late
     Mary Brock Fambrough. He was a city Government maintenance worker.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roman's Road Baptist
     Church with the Rev. Roger Hardy officiating.
        Survivors include his wife, Millie Sue Brock, Jefferson; two
     sons, Jeff Brock and Tim Brock, both of Jefferson; three sisters,
     Wanda Fambrough, Habersham County, Jackie Howard, Winder, and
     Barbara Rives, Jefferson; three brothers, Henry Brock, Ala., James
     Brock, Winder, and David Fambrough, Braselton; and two
     grandchildren.
        Evans Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
