        Mary Jones, 91, of Kathwood Drive died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001.
        A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late
     Wade and Lula Freeman Jones. She was a member of Cades Chapel
     Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cades Chapel Baptist
     Church with the Rev. Richard Moss officiating. Burial will be in
     the church cemetery.
        Survivors include four daughters, Gracie Mae Hunt, Elberton,
     Julia Collins and Marion Meekins, both of New York City, and Sharon
     Newton, Winder; two sons, Rufus Jones, Elberton, and Ricky Collins,
     Stone Mountain; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
        The family is at the residence of Rufus Jones, Kathwood Drive.

        Demond Towns, 26, of 154 Pine Lane died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001.
        A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Towns was a son of Sammy Towns
     and Hattie Towns. He was employed by Clarke County Sewer Plant and
     was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist
     Church with the Rev. Matthew Harden officiating. The body will be
     placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church
     cemetery.
        Survivors include three sisters, Lisa Harden, Teresa Towns and
     Jessica Towns, all of Rayle; and a brother, Melvin Towns.
        The family is at the residence of Hattie Towns and will receive
     friends from noon-9 p.m. today at Davenport-McLendon Mortuary,
     Washington.

        Mark Howell Thomas, 31, of 138 Poplar St. Extension died Monday,
     Feb. 12, 2001.
        A native of Cleveland, Ga., Mr. Thomas was a son of Earnest
     Howell Thomas and Ruby Hopkins Thomas of Cleveland. He was a deputy
     sheriff with Stephens County Sheriff's Department and was a member
     and deacon of Liberty Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Whitlock Mortuary with
     the Revs. Albert Hudson and Ty Childers officiating. Burial will be
     in Roselane Cemetery.
        Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Teresa
     Oliver Thomas; a daughter, Katlin Lee Thomas, Toccoa; and two
     brothers, Michael L. Thomas and Robert E. Thomas, both of Monroe.
        The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Oliver,
     Fieldcrest Drive, Eastanollee, and will receive friends from 3-5
     and 7-9 p.m. today at the mortuary.

        Louise Casper, 79, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001.
        Mrs. Casper was a daughter of the late George and Ora Harbin
     Sims. She was a homemaker and was a member of Chapel Christian
     Church.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Chapel Christian Church with
     the Rev. Jim Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Medical
     Gardens.
        Survivors include her husband, R.B. Casper; a son, Ronnie
     Casper, Winder; a brother, Maurice Sims, Winder; two grandchildren;
     and four great-grandchildren.

        K. Winston Bugg, 82, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001.
        A native of Columbus, Mr. Bugg was a graduate of Columbus
     Industrial High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
     He formerly was employed at radio station WABE, Atlanta, and
     retired from the U.S. Civil Service with its highest civilian
     award.
        Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Friendship
     Presbyterian Church, Athens.
        Survivors include his wife, Emily B. Bugg; two daughters, Sandra
     B. Martin, Snellville, and Joyce B. Corn, Buford; a son, David W.
     Bugg, Lilburn; a brother, William F. Bugg, Macon; and three
     grandchildren.
        In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer
     Society or to the Alzheimer's Association.

        Brandall Mitchell Horne, 55, of 1401 Irvin-Kirk Road died
     Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001.
        A native of Madison County, Mr. Horne was a son of William
     Claude Horne and Emma Frances Haley Horne. He was a construction
     worker with Branch Construction and was of the Baptist faith.
        Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Friendship Baptist
     Church cemetery with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.
        Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a stepdaughter,
     Patricia Adams, Danielsville; two stepsons, David Graham, Comer,
     and James Graham, Danielsville; four sisters, Martha Jean Lord,
     Ila, Mary Lord and Cindy Horne, both of Danielsville, and Claudine
     West, Comer; a stepsister, Linda Kay Strickland, Royston; five
     brothers, William Claude Horne Jr., William Ray Horne, David Horne
     and Michael Horne, all of Danielsville, and Talmadge Horne Jr.,
     Comer; and six grandchildren.
        Pallbearers will be David Graham, David Branch, Jamie Dean,
     Barney White, Steven Branch and Andy Brooks. Honorary pallbearers
     will be Gene West and Randy Lord.

        Mrs. Hazel Juanita Parnell Massey, 65, of 1919 Massey Road,
     Bowman, Georgia died Monday, February 12, 2001 at the Athens
     Regional Medical Center in Athens, Georgia.
        Mrs. Massey was born in Elbert County, Georgia August 20, 1935
     daughter of the late Alvin and Sallie Driver Parnell. She was a
     homemaker and a member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church.
        Survivors include: husband, Alfred Massey, Bowman; sons, Edward
     Massey, Holly Springs Community, Ronald Massey, Bowman;
     grandchildren, Molly Mathis, Comer, Daniel Massey, Kristin Massey
     and Jacob Massey, all of Bowman; a great-grandchild, Austin Mathis,
     Comer; a brother, Arnold Parnell, Monroe; sisters, Sara Parnell,
     Greenville, S.C., Mildred Winslet, Dewy Rose, Elizabeth Rousey,
     Greenwood, S.C., Jean Massey, Meridian, Miss., Shirley Propes, and
     Mary Ann Propes, both of Greenville, S.C. Preceded in death by: 1
     son Donald Massey; 1 sister Reba Drake.
        Funeral Services for Mrs. Massey will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday,
     February 14, 2001 at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary
     Purvis officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial
     Park in Athens, Ga.
        The body is at the Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Ga. where the
     family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday Evening. The
     family is at the home.

                            John Eugene Wildman
                                  Athens 
                                      
        John Eugene Wildman died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 after an extended
     illness. Mr. Wildman was 67.
        Born in Parmelle, N.C. on March 5, 1933, Mr. Wildman was the son
     of Clenden Brown Wildman Rice and the late John David Wildman. He
     graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston Salem, N.C. and
     was a National Merit Scholar. Mr. Wildman also graduated from
     Bulock Military Academy in Washington, D.C., after which he
     received both presidential and congressional appointments to the
     U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.
        Upon graduation he began his naval career by attending the
     United States Naval Supply Corps School in Athens. After graduation
     he was stationed first on the USS Ticonderoga followed by a tour of
     the USS Zellars. Mr. Wildman then served at the Naval Air Station
     in Memphis, Tennessee. From there he went to The U.S. Naval
     Language Institute in Anacosta, Virginia, specializing in Arabic
     studies. After attending the U.S. Naval Intelligence School in
     Washington, D.C., Mr. Wildman was posted to the U.S. Embassy in
     Cairo, Egypt, where he served as assistant naval attache'.
        Returning to the U.S. Mr. Wildman studied at the U.S. Naval
     Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, earning a Masters of
     Business Administration. From California he returned to Athens to
     NSCS as a staff department head. Mr. Wildman then served a tour in
     ''I'' Corps, in DaNang, Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
     Again returning to Athens, Mr. Wildman participated in the U.S.
     Navy Postgraduate Scholarship Program at the University of Georgia
     and was awarded a PhD in Business Management. At this time he was
     elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, honorary business fraternity.
        After an assignment at the Defense Electronic Supply Center in
     Dayton, Ohio, he went on to serve his final tour as a member of the
     staff of the Chief of the U.S. Naval Supply Corps in Washington,
     D.C. Mr. Wildman retired from the Navy after 20 years and became an
     international consultant with Booz-Allen and Hamilton stationed in
     Washington, D.C. and Tehran, Iran. He returned to Athens just prior
     to the deposition of the Shah of Iran. Shortly thereafter he
     established his property management business, Wildman Management.
        Mr. Wildman was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Athens
     Country Club, Athens City Club, Bulldog Club, and the President's
     Club of the University of Georgia. He served as President of the
     Georgia Museum of Art and was a member of the National Association
     of Schools of Theatre.
        Mr. Wildman is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane Birchmore
     Wildman; two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Wildman and Miriam Bowden
     Wildman; his mother, Mrs. George Rice, his sister, Mrs. Ward
     McKeithen, his nieces, Ashley McKeithen Nelson and Millicent
     McKeithen Kang, and a nephew, Alexander McKeithen.
        The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 14 at
     Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The Rev. Mandy Brady will officiate.
     Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers will
     be: John E. Broadnax, Jr., Allen D. King, Joel J. Knight, Nathaniel
     E. Parker, III, William L. Power, James F. Thornton, Jr., Don W.
     Terry, Jr., and Hudson Whitley. Honorary pallbearers are Edsel
     Benson, Robert E. Gibson, James L. LaBoon, Jr., Morris O. Phelps,
     Edward Spurgeon, and Felix Tomei.
        The family is at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations
     may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 498 Prince Avenue,
     Athens, GA 30601 or The American Heart Association, Georgia
     Affiliate, 1353 Jennings Mill Road, Ste. A, Bogart, GA 30622.
