        Ferma Jack Hammond, 70, of 626 Hammond-Williams Road died
     Wednesday, May 30, 2001.
        A native of Madison County, Mr. Hammond was a son of the late
     Buford H. and Jewel Sexton Hammond. He was a retired poultry and
     cattle farmer and a member of Moon's Grove Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Lord and Stephens Funeral
     Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Dan Fuller and Tony Lee
     officiating. Burial will be in Moon's Grove Baptist Church
     cemetery.
        Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth James Hammond; two sons,
     Keith J. Hammond, Danielsville, and Kim E. Hammond, Athens; two
     sisters, Ravonda Hammond Minish and Barbara Hammond Moulder,
     Danielsville; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

                        White Plains Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carter Funeral Home with
     the Rev. Kenneth Deaton officiating. Burial will be in White Plains
                          Baptist church cemetery.
         Survivors include her husband, Hugh M. Peppers; a son, Kenneth
        Lee, Winder; a step-daughter, Shirley Wells, Winder; and five
                               grandchildren.

         A native of White County, Mr. Black was a son of the late Dyer
       and Pauline Harris Black. He was a self-employed carpenter. He
        served in the infantry during World War II and was a lifetime
                          member of VFW Post #7720.
        Services will be at 11 a.m. today at VFW Memorial Park Cemetery
                    with the Rev. Ken Coomer officiating.
          Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Black, Demorest; a son,
        David Black; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

         A native of Hart County, Mrs. Baker was a daughter of the late
         Joe S. White and Arlie Phillips White. She was retired from
       Hartwell Mills. She was a member of the Hartwell First Baptist
                  Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
        Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home
     with the Dr. F. Hugh Kirby officiating. Entombment will be in Nancy
                             Hart Memorial Park.
          Survivors include a son, Billy M. Baker; three sisters, Sue
     Blakely, Lavonia, Bobbi Jo Norris, Walhalla, S.C., and Peggy Byrum,
       Bowersville; a brother, Rev. James Herman White, Hartwell; two
       grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a special friend,
                          Winford Foster, Lavonia.

     White Thrower. He was a retired power company manager and served in
            the United States Navy See-Bees during World War II.
        Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carter Funeral
        Home with the Rev. Shane Crowe officiating. Burial will be in
                          Barrow Memorial Gardens.
          Survivors include a sister, Katherine Thompson, Venus, Fla.;
                             nieces and nephews.

        Irene Newton O'Neal, 86, of 312 E. Greene Street died Wednesday,
                                May 30, 2001.
         A native of Bulloch County, Mrs. O'Neal was a daughter of the
     late Ruben Joseph and Emma Massey, and was a widow of Walter Newton
          O'Neal. She was a bookkeeper for Duvall Livestock Barn in
      Greensboro for over 30 years, Veazey Brothers in White Plain, and
     Rutherford's Store in Union Point. She was a member of First United
                       Methodist Church of Greensboro.
           Services will be at 1 p.m. today at First United Methodist
      Church of Greensboro with the Rev. Ed Nelson officiating. Burial
                    will be in Greensboro City Cemetery.
        Survivors include a daughter, Wanda O'Neal Keenum, Watkinsville;
        a sister, Dorothy N. Key, Greensboro; and two grandchildren.
          Pallbearers will be Ted Eley, Ron Tanner, Larry Postell, and
                                Lewis Duvall.
            Memorial may be made to the American Heart Association.

     late Willie Lawrence and Susie Mae Warren. She was a member of Flat
      Rock Baptist Church. She was employed in Atlanta at the Varsity,
          Atlanta Hartsfield Airport, and Georgia Baptist Hospital.
          Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Flat Rock Baptist
     Church with the Rev. Robert Slaughter officiating. The body will be
         placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church
                                  cemetery.
          Survivors include six daughters, Shirley Armstrong and Silva
       Warren, both of Greensboro, Gail Warren, Lizzie Mae Waller and
       Vanessa Waller, all of Atlanta, and Janette Carter Davis, White
        Plains; two sons, Wade Waller, Jr., White Plains, and Clinton
         Waller, Atlanta; a sister, Rosetta Jernigan, Decatur; five
         step-sisters; four step-brothers; 21 grandchildren; and 17
                            great-grandchildren.

       late Arthur L., Sr. and Hattie Olivia Strickland Dixon and the
      widow of Henry Thomas Culp. She retired from Chicopee and Thomas
                     Textile. She was a Jehovah Witness.
         Survivors include two sons, Randall Culp, Athens, and Michael
       Alan Culp, Monroe; a brother, Arthur L. Dixon, Jr., Athens; two
      grandsons, Thomas Randall Culp, Jr., Atlanta, and Robert D. Culp,
                  Greensboro; and two great-grandchildren.
         Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bernstein
     Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Johnny Smith officiating. Burial will
            follow in Princeton United Methodist Church cemetery.
         The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 at
                              the funeral home.

         Mr. Foster, Jr. was the son of Estella A. and James R. Jones,
                               Sr., of Athens.
        He was preceded in death by a daughter, Felicia S. Foster and a
                        brother, Robert Trent Jones.
           Survivors in addition to his parents include one daughter,
       Lolita C. Foster of Douglasville, Georgia; one son, Anthony C.
       (Denise) Foster of Athens; two sisters, Rhonda Lynne Burton, of
        Athens and Donna M. (Eddie) Brown of Hull; one brother, Keith
      (Sandra) Foster of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Maniga Foster and
       Anton Foster, both of Athens; one aunt, Annette (Glenn) Tate of
     Athens; two uncles, Robert (Patricia) Wimbush and Addison Wimbush,
      Jr., both of Athens; one great-aunt, Maggie S. Winfrey; a host of
