        Dolly Chastain Tanksley, 50, formerly of White County, died
     Friday, Nov. 5, 1999.
        A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Tanksley was a daughter of
     Cora Belle Poole Chastain, Gainesville, and the late Elmer
     Chastain, and was preceded in death by a son, Royce Hill. She was a
     heavy equipment operator for Densmore Grading and was of the
     Baptist faith.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McGahee-Griffin Funeral
     Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. L.G. Howard officiating. Burial will
     be in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
        Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, Doug
     Tanksley; two daughters, Tammy Ellis, Norfolk, Va., and Valerie
     Craver, Lula; a step-daughter, Amy Tanksley and a step-son, Chad
     Tanksley, both of Mount Airy; four sisters, Sue Dixon, Linda Miller
     and Judy Grindle, all of Lula, and Betty Allen, Demorest; and four
     grandchildren.
        The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at
     the funeral home.

        Bobbie Strickland, 67, of 608 Buddy Moore Road, died Friday,
     Nov. 5, 1999.
        A native of Oconee County, Mr. Strickland was a son of Golden
     Williamson Strickland and the late Robert Strickland. He worked for
     Russell Research Center in Athens, was retired from the Air Force,
     and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, for which he received the
     Bronze Star.
        Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown's Funeral Home,
     Danielsville. Burial will be in Erastus Church Cemetery.
        Survivors include two sons, Steven Strickland, Colbert, and
     David Strickland, Avondale Estates; a brother, William Strickland,
     Gastonia, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
        Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
        The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the
     funeral home.

        Tony F. Owens, 60, of 654 High Meadow Trail, died November 6,
     1999.
        A native of Carroll County, Ga., he was a son of the late
     Charlie F. and Lottie Sewell Owens. He was employed with Holox
     Welding Supplies, Athens. He was a veteran of the United States
     Navy and was of the Baptist faith. He had lived in Athens for about
     eight years. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy
     Owens, Bobby Owens, Ronald Owens and Junior Owens.
        Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at
     11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home, Albany.
     Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Albany.
        Survivors include his wife, Joyce Owens; son and
     daughter-in-law, Kevin and Stacy Owens of Albany; daughter, Robin
     Owens of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and John Summer of
     Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Brenda Palmer of Pompano Beach,
     Fla. and Ruth Sauls of Villa Rica, Ga.; brother, Charles Owens of
     Conyers, Ga.; three grandchildren, Katelyn Owens, Celeste Summer
     and Ty Summer.
        The family will receive friends Sunday, November 7, from 2:00
     until 4:00 p.m. at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, and Monday
     from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home.

        Carl N. Young, 87, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999.
        A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Young was a son of the late
     Joseph and Carolyn Young. A resident of Athens for 20 years, he was
     a retired dance instructor and antique dealer. He attended the
     University of Georgia Catholic Center.
        Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the UGA Catholic Center
     with the Father Jack McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Oconee
     Memorial Park, Watkinsville.
        Survivors include his wife, Adelia Schragner Young; two
     daughters, Karen Y. Czarick, Bogart, and Barbara Y. Castricone,
     Boca Raton, Fla.; four sons, Gene Young, Milledgeville, Paul Young,
     Medford, Ore., Carl Young Jr. and David Young, both of Hamburg,
     N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
        Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

        Theodore R. Tharps, of 119 Burke St., died Wednesday, Nov. 3,
     1999.
        He was a son of the late Mrs. Minnie Tharp. He served as
     chairman of the Steward Board and Trustee Board, was a past Exalted
     Ruler of the Granite City Elk Lodge #1343, and was served as
     principal in Calhoun Falls, S.C. school system. He was a member of
     St. Mary's C.M.E. Church.
        Services will be at 3 p.m. today at St. Mary's C.M.E. Church
     with the Rev. Carlton Taylor officiating. The body will be placed
     in the church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
        Survivors include his wife, Nelcena Tharp; a daughter, Mrs.
     Theodosia Edwards, Decatur; two grandchildren; and a
     great-grandchild.
        The family is at the residence.

     by a daughter, Sybil Casper Skelton, and a son, Robert Casper. She
     lived in the Athens area most of her life and was of the Baptist
     faith.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bridges Funeral Home with
     the Rev. Larry Holmes officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel
     Christian Church Cemetery.
        Survivors include a daughter, Ann Finch, Athens; a son, Victor
     Casper, Watkinsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Sara
     Casper, Athens, William and Johnnie Casper, Danielsville, and Gene
