   Seab C. Carroll
   Eastanollee
      Seab C. Carroll, 81, of Eastanollee Middle School Road, died
   Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998.
      A native of Stephens County, Mr. Carroll was a son of the late G.S.
   "Jack" and Betty Mauldin Carroll. He was preceded in death by a
   daughter, Judy Lynn Carroll. A Navy veteran of World War II having
   served in the Pacific Theater, he was retired after 38 years from
   WABCO and owned and operated S.C. Carroll Enterprises. He was a member
   of Grace Baptist Church and the State Executive Committee of the
   Democratic Party of Georgia.
      Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church
   with the Revs. Joel Bradberry, Bryan Lee and Dwayne Benfield
   officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens with military
   honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4346.
      Survivors include his wife, Mildred Lee Carroll; a daughter, Cheryl
   Burrell, Toccoa; a son, Gary Carroll, Toccoa; a sister, Fannie Akin,
   Carnesville; a brother, Preston Carroll, Lavonia; five grandchildren,
   a great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.
      Pallbearers will be nephews Mike Carroll, George Carroll, Jack
   Carroll, Sam Crenshaw, Charles Akin and Russell Crenshaw.
      The family is at the residence.
      Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, is in charge of arrangements.
   Charles Clyatt
   Waycross
      Charles Lamar Clyatt, 91, of Waycross, formerly of Albany, died
   Thursday in Waycross after an illness.
      His funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist
   Church with interment to follow at Mount Enon Cemetery, Baconton. Dr.
   James M. Ramsey will officiate.
      A native of Baker County, he was the son of the late Robert and
   Florrie Clyatt. He was a 1932 graduate of Georgia State College for
   Men and was a retired sales representative. Before moving to Baptist
   Village in 1996, he resided in Albany for 50 years. He was an active
   member of the First Baptist Church, serving as Chairman of the Board
   of Deacons and many terms on the Board. He served on and was chairman
   of the Board of the Anchorage. He was a member of the Albany Exchange
   Club and in 1986 received its "Golden Deeds" award. He was a Mason and
   a former member of the Albany Men's Garden Club and the Georgia
   Camellia Society.
      Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Bruce
   Ferguson, Athens; a son-in-law, James Fausett, Marietta; a sister,
   Mildred Schade, Largo, Fla.; grandchildren, Bruce and Robin Ferguson
   Jr., Jacksonville, Fla., Brian Ferguson, Atlanta, Cecily and Johnny
   Merchant, Marietta, James "Joe" Fausett, Marietta; two
   great-grandchildren, Cole Ferguson and Abigail Merchant. He was
   preceded in death by his wife Agnes in May 1998. A daughter, Angela
   Fausett, Marietta, preceded him in death in 1997.

   Mount Enon Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 250, Baconton, Ga. 31716.

   Mary Louise Foster
   Bishop
      Mary Louise Foster died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998.
      A native of Bishop, Miss Foster was a daughter of the late James
   Samuel and Ethel Cox Foster. Her career in nursing spanned more than
   50 years. After receiving training at St. Joseph's Hospital, Atlanta,
   she worked as office nurse for Dr. Harry E. Talmadge and later
   continued at Athens Orthopedic Clinic. She was a member and past
   president of Athens Pilot Club, with 25 years of perfect attendance,
   and a member and past president of YWCO's Entre Nous Club. She was a
   member for more than 50 years of the Athens Chapter 268 of the Order
   of the Eastern Star and a lifelong member of Bishop Methodist Church.
      Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home,
   West, Bogart, with the Revs. Mike Marsingal, Doug Bowers and Dennis
   Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
      Survivors include a sister, Margaret Foster, Bishop; five brothers,
   James M. Foster, Orange City, Fla., Fred H. Foster, Watkinsville,
   George D. Foster, Longwood, Fla., and Joe C. Foster and Charlie H.
   Foster, both of Athens; seven nieces and nephews; and eight
   great-nieces and great-nephews.
      Pallbearers will be W.B. "Butch" Mulherin, John Kennon, Oliver
   Kennon, John Cullens, Dave Ellis, Edward Kennimer, Dennis McKenzie and
   Todd Emily. Honorary pallbearers will be all Eastern Star members.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bishop United
   Methodist Church, 1082 Old Bishop Road, Bishop, Ga. 30621.
   Olis W. Garrison
   Belton
      Olis William Garrison, 80, formerly of 105 Herd Ave., died
   Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998.
      A native of Franklin County, Mr. Garrison was a son of the late
   John and Victoria Martin Garrison and was the widower of Nettie Shell
   Garrison. An Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European
   Theater, he was a retired barber and a member of Eastview Baptist
   Church.
      Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Cox Funeral Home with the
   Revs. Kirk Mitchell and Swayne Cochran officiating. Burial will be in
   Belton Cemetery.
      Survivors include four sisters, Marie Caudell and Mary Lee Caudell,
   both of Greenville, Frances Thomas, Carnesville, and Betty Caudell,
   Jefferson; a brother, Ralph Garrison, Carnesville; and nieces and
   nephews.
      The family members are at their respective homes.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastview Baptist
   Church of Belton or a favorite charity.
   Carl F. Payne
   Hartwell
      Carl Francis "Pudding" Payne, 53, of 440 Christmas Tree Road died
   Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998.
      A native of Franklin County, Mr. Payne was a son of Margaret Ginn
   Payne Cordell, Hartwell, and the late Ralph Francis Payne. He was
   preceded in death by a son, Joseph Berry Payne. He was a heavy machine
   operator for the University of Georgia maintenance department and a
   member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where he was a sound system
   engineer, served on the audio and property committees and was a member
   of the Richard Bowers Sunday School Class.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cross Roads Baptist Church with
   the Rev. Ben Coleman officiating. The body will be placed in the
   church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
      Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a son, Kendall Payne,
   Bowersville; and a brother, Joe Payne, Riverdale.
      The family is at the home of Margaret Payne Cordell, 232 Liberty
   Hill Road.
      Memorials may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church Building
   Ramp Fund, 3636 Lavonia Highway, Hartwell, Ga. 30643.

   Tucker
      Lorraine Jones Smith, 82, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998.
      A native of Madison, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Charles
   W. and Carolyn Moore Jones. She was a retired secretary with Sears
   Roebuck, Atlanta, and was a Presbyterian.
      Services were Thursday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with
   the Rev. Calvin Forrester officiating. Entombment will be in Stephens
   Memorial Gardens.
      Survivors include a brother, Charles E. Jones, Toccoa; and a niece,
   Jodi Jones Boyd, Alpharetta.
   Carrie Tucker
   New York, N.Y.
      Carrie Lee Hall Tucker, 82, formerly of Elbert County, died
   Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998.
      A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Tucker was a daughter of the late
   Luther and Maggie Oglesby Hall and was the widow of Jimmy Tucker. She
   was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Elberton.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church with the
   Rev. Luther Mahoney officiating. Burial will be in the church
   cemetery.
      Survivors include a sister, Annie Mae Hunter, Cincinnati; and two
   brothers, James Hall, Atlanta, and Roy Hall, Elberton.
      McKinney-Neal Mortuary, Elberton, is in charge of arrangements.
   Rebecca Virgilio
   Elberton
      Rebecca Forbes Virgilio, 55, of 1507 Washington Highway, Lot 5,
   died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998.
      A native of Philadelphia, Mrs. Virgilio was a daughter of Madeline
   Barbieri Forbes, New Jersey, and the late William Forbes. She was a
   homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
      Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Berry Funeral Home with the
   Rev. Barbara Engelbrecht officiating. Burial will be in New Jersey.
      Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Gerald
   Virgilio; three daughters, Cynthia Virgilio and Kristen Virgilio, both
   of Elberton, and Kimberly Scoggins, North Atlantic Beach, Fla.; two
   sons, Joseph Fiorilli, Philadelphia, and Gerald Virgilio Jr.,
   Elberton; three sisters, Dorothy Lloyd, New Jersey, Mae Drais,
   Philadelphia, and Joan Nickolas, California; two brothers, John
   Forbes, New Jersey, and William Forbes, California; and three
   grandchildren.
      The family is at the residence and will receive friends 1-3 p.m.
   Sunday at the funeral home.
   J. Howard Wood Sr.
   Colbert
      J. Howard Wood Sr., 86, of Second Avenue North died Friday, Aug.
   28, 1998.
      A native of Madison County, Mr. Wood was a son of the late Fed and
   Florence Martin Wood and was the widower of the late Erma Thompson
   Wood. He was a member of Colbert Methodist Church and was retired
   after 42 years from Texaco.
      Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Colbert City Cemetery.
      Survivors include a daughter, Linda Goble, Prattville, Ala.; a son,
   John H. Wood Jr., Danielsville; two sisters, Mildred Johnson, Hull,
   and Flora Long, Stone Mountain; five grandchildren, four
   great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
      Pallbearers will be Walter Smith, Roger James, Joe Morris, Freddie
   Johnson, Robert Wood and Kenneth Wood.
      The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Brown Funeral
   Home, Danielsville.
      Memorials may be made to Colbert Methodist Church.

      Richard G. Wortham, 56, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1998.
      A native of Athens, Mr. Wortham was a son of the late Thomas
   Wortham and Mary Ophelia Wortham Ashley. He was a retired electronics
   engineer.
      Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Johnsons Drive
   Baptist Church.
      Survivors include his wife, Dot Wortham; two sons, David L.
   Wortham, Crawford, and Steven R. Wortham, Germany; his stepfather,
   Bobby Ashley, Athens; a half-brother, Charles Ashley, Athens; and two
   grandchildren.
      Cremation Society of the South, Austell, is in charge of
   arrangements.
