Thomas Brewer

Thomas Richard Brewer, 61, of Hill Street, Apt. 8, died Monday,
March 23, 1998.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Brewer was a son of the late Farris
and Clara Adamson Brewer. He was preceded in death by a daughter,
Susan Brewer. He was retired.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Ivie Funeral Home,
Commerce, with the Rev. James Dumas. Burial will be in Grey Hill
Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Brewer; three stepchildren; a
sister, Bonnie Massy, Commerce; a brother, Vernon Brewer, Commerce;
seven stepgrandchildren; and three nephews.
Judy B. Bryant
Hartwell
Judy Bailey Bryant, 50, of 485 W. Howell St., died Monday, March
23, 1998.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Bryant was a daughter of "Totsie"
Crump Bailey of Bowersville and the late Ralph Bailey. She was an
operations manager for Pinnacle Bank in Royston and a member of Mount
Olivet Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Cross Roads Baptist
Church with the Revs. Ben Coleman, Joe Black and Danny Barton
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be
placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a daughter, Amanda
Morris, Toccoa; a son, Josh Bryant, Hartwell; and two brothers, Gene
Bailey and Jimmy Bailey, both of Hartwell.
The family is at the residence.

Grady Coker
Winder
Grady Coker, 80, died Monday, March 23, 1998.
A native of Gwinnett County, Mr. Coker was a retired maintenance
worker with the DeKalb County Board of Education and a member of
Whistleville Christian Church.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Carter-Stewart
Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Fumea and Linwood Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Coker; his children, Donald and
Darlene Hunt and Neita Ward, all of Lawrenceville, Ronald and Ann Hunt
and Larry and Gail Hunt, all of Winder; three sisters, Ruth Harrison
and Daisy O'Kelley, both of Buford, and Myrtle Johns, Hapeville; two
brothers, Royce Duncan and Allen Ray Duncan, both of Buford; eight
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after noon today at the funeral
home.
Peggie D. Conrad

Peggie D. Conrad, 71, of 406 Hartwell St., died Tuesday, March 24,
1998.
A native of Sanford, Fla., Mrs. Conrad was a daughter of the late
Grady and Myrtle Hill Duncan and widow of W.H. Conrad. She was a
librarian, a former member of Toastmistress Club, Daughters of the
Confederacy and Sanford Women's Club, and attended Royston First
United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Bowers Memorial
Garden, Canon, with the Revs. Bobby Anthony and Eldon Massey
officiating.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Conrad, Royston; a sister,
Margo Powers, Gainesville, Fla.; and a brother, Mike Duncan, Royston.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Duncan, 119 Carnes
St., and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Pruitte Funeral Home.

Lou Giannasi
Athens
Raoul L. "Lou" Giannasi, 66, of 185 Sena Court, died Monday, March
23, 1998.
A native of Detroit, Mr. Giannasi was a son of the late Louis Roger
and Katherine Marie Stalc Giannasi. An Army veteran of the Korean War,
he was a former professional musician and public school teacher and a
retired real estate broker. He attended the Catholic Center at the
University of Georgia.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lord & Stephens
Funeral Home, East, with Father Steven Pavignano officiating. Burial
will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, David E. and Jean
Giannasi, Athens; and two nieces, Claire Giannasi and Elise Giannasi,
both of Athens.
The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral
home.

Agnes Haymon
Winder
Agnes Pierce Haymon, 96, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998.
Mrs. Haymon was born in a section of Gwinnett County that later was
incorporated into Barrow County, a daughter of the late Wiley and Lula
Phillips Pierce and widow of John A. Haymon. She was a charter member
of Whistleville Christian Church and a housewife.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Carter-Stewart Funeral
Home with the Rev. Ray Fumea officiating. Burial will be in Barrow
Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dwight Haymon officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Dot Smith and Syble Brock, both of
Winder; two sons, Harold Haymon, Decatur, and Charles Haymon, Winder;
a sister, Birtie Hutchins, Carl; 10 grandchildren, 13
great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home.
June Kirkland

June Taylor Kirkland, 66, of McCranie St., died Saturday, March 14,
1998.
A native of Cass County, Mrs. Kirkland was a daughter of Mildred
Marie Myers Taylor of Waynesville, Mo., and the late Frank Jesse
Taylor. She was retired from Waynesville Security Bank in Waynesville,
Mo., and Belk's in Athens.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bogart Christian
Church, Bogart, with the Rev. Ben Parker officiating.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Sloan, Bogart, Russa
Parker, Willacoochee, and Frances Hall, Clarksville, Tenn.; a son, Tom
Kirkland, Douglas; three sisters, Jessiemarie Threldkeld and Rosemary
Kremer, both of Waynesville, Mo., and Judy Garrett, Muskogee, Okla.; a
brother, F.J. Taylor, Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and nieces
and nephews.

Martha L. LaBoon
Athens
Martha L. LaBoon, 83, formerly of 635 Riverhill Drive, died
Tuesday, March 24, 1998.
Miss LaBoon received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University
of Georgia and had further studies at the University of Tennessee. She
was a retired professor at the University of Georgia and taught for
many years in The McPhaul Center at the university.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen
Memorial Park with the Rev. Ray Austin officiating.
Survivors include two nephews, James L. LaBoon Jr., Athens, and Lee
Lamar, Austin, Texas; a great-niece and three great-nephews.
The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. today at Bridges Funeral
Home.

David Maxey Sr.

John David Maxey Sr., 48, of Second Street died Tuesday, March 24,
1998.
A native of Clarke County, Mr. Maxey was a son of Willie Saye
Williams Maxey of Athens and the late Albert Richard Maxey. He was a
Marine Corps veteran serving in Vietnam and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lord & Stephens
Funeral Home Madison Chapel, Danielsville, with the Revs. Ray Jenkins,
Morris Sapp and David McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his mother,include his wife, Pat Maxey; a
stepmother, Louise Maxey, Athens; a daughter, Tracy Michelle Leachman,
Covington; a son, John David Maxey, Loganville; a stepdaughter, Rene
Wilson, Arnoldsville; a stepson, Rodney Rogers, Hull; three sisters,
Lois Payne, Hull, Beverly Dove, Danielsville, and Kathy Keene, Athens;
a brother, Richard Maxey, Winterville; three grandchildren; and nieces
and nephews.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Matthew Pennington

Matthew Alan Pennington, 15, died Saturday, March 21, 1998.
A native of Valdosta, Matt was a son of Craig A. and Teresa W.
Pennington of Hahira. He was a member of the ninth grade class at
Lowndes High School and an active member of Bethany Baptist Church and
its youth program and the Boys Club sports program.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at McLane Funeral Home,
Valdosta, with the Revs. Don Smith and Ken Hall officiating. Burial
will be in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, William
Ryan Pennington, Hahira; four grandparents, Robert L. and Shirley
Pennington, Hahira, and the Rev. and Mrs. Bill Wood, Hull; two
great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herron Wood, Cordele; two uncles; and
two cousins.

Blanche Roesch

Blanche Williams Roesch, 72, formerly of Albany, died Monday, March
23, 1998.
A native of Baconton, Mrs. Roesch was a daughter of the late Edward
B. and Thalia Watson Williams. She was retired from the Marine Corps
Logistic Base in Albany, where she had worked as a budget analyst.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Kimbrell-Stern
Mortuary, Albany, with Dr. James M. Ramsey officiating.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Ed A. Brown, Colbert; a sister, Nell
W. Harris, Douglas; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 3-4 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

James Steward, 71, of 135 Benjamin Drive, died Monday, March 23,
1998.
A native of Sumpter County, Ala., Mr. Steward was a retired truck
driver.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mack & Payne Funeral
Home with the Rev. Bob Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Athens
Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Steward, Cleveland, Ohio; a
daughter, Mary Carter, Athens; two sons, Gregory Kelley, Cleveland,
Ohio, and Pedro Steward Hart, Washington, D.C.; and grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and nieces.
The family is at the home of Mary Carter, 135 Benjamin Drive.
