LOCAL AND PERSONAL.

  G. L. Smith, of Tod township, this county, employed as a brakeman on
the P.R.R. in the Altoona yard, was so seriously hurt, on Wednesday
evening of last week, as to cause his death the following evening. He
was jolted from his car, and falling to the track several cars passed
over him. His scalp was torn almost completely off, his lower jaw bone
broken, his thigh terribly lacerated and his entire body cut and
bruised. His remains were interred in Cole's Valley, his former home,
on the 19th inst., and being a young man of more than ordinary promise
his funeral was largely attended. He was aged 19 years, 11 months and
16 days.
