Last Will and Testament of Eve Margaret Smith, deceased

In the name of God Amen I Eve Margaret Smith of Carroll county State of Maryland 
being sick and weak in body but of sound...mind, memory and understanding 
considering the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and 
being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better fore... to 
leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and 
... this my last will and testament in manner and form following To Wit : First 
and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to 
the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter 
named. Item: It is my will and I do ... and direct that as soon as conveniently 
it can be done after my death that all my just debts and funeral expenses be 
paid.

Item, I give and devise unto Susan Catharine Koontz, (wife of Nelson Koontz of 
Absalom) all of my goods, chattels and personal property of everykind and 
description that I may own and be for served of at the time of my death, and 
also all notes Book accounts and alll money that is owing to me and all cash 
money that I may leave at the time of my death I give unto her the said Susan 
Catharine Koontz, wife of Nelson Koontz (of Absalom) to her absolutely. But she 
must pay all my funeral expenses, including Coffin and a pair of tombstones put 
up at my grave.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint Michael Humbert Executor of this 
my last will and testament giving and granting him all power to carry into 
execution all and every many provision contained in this my last will and 
testament. Revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made 
ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. 
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 
twelfth day of December Eighteen hundred and ninety six.

her request in her foresence and in the foresence of Each other we have signed

Notes: Will admitted to probate 8 Feb 1897, Orphan Court of Carroll County, 
Maryland. Susan Catharine Koontz is niece of Eve Margaret Smith. Susan 
Catharine's father is Michael Humbert, and her mother is Ann Maria Smith, sister 
of Eve Margart Smith. Eve Margaret Smith did not marry. Transcribed by Susan 
Purves, gg granddaughter of Henry Peter Smith, brother of Eve Margart Smith.
