George Randall Bevills

 George Randall Bevills of Pumpkin Bend,a longtime McCrory merchant, died 
at 5:00 p.m Thursday, June 26,1997 at the St. Bernard's Regional Medical 
Center in Jonesboro where he had been a patient for the past five days. 
He was 56 years of age and died following a brief illness.

 Services were Saturday, June 28, at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home 
Chapel with Rev. Howard Wright, pastor of the 65th street Church of God in 
Little Rock and Rev. Don Jones, pastor of the Ephesus Church of God in 
McCrory, officiating. Interment was in the Pumpkin Bend Cemetery near 
McCrory. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

  Mr. Bevills was born on July 20, 1940 in the Possum Creek community in 
Woodruff County the son of the late George Washinton and Anna Bell Ridge 
Bevills. He attended schools at Pumpkin Bend and McCrory. He was married 
September 16, 1960 to the former Miss Nettie Gean Smith of Woodruff County 
who survives. Mr. Bevills and his wife have been owners of the Friendly 
Store in McCrory for 25 yrs. He was a lifelong resident of Woodruff County 
and enjoyed hunting throughout his life. He was a member of the Grays 
Hunting Club.

 In addition to his wife, Nettie, he is survived by one son Randy Bevills 
of Bald Knob; two daughters Ronda Jackson and Kathy Jones both of McCrory; 
one sister Wava Volk of Little Rock and four grandchildren.

 Active pallbearers were Ronnie Baldwin, Buddy Early, Donald Hopper, 
Joey Ridge, Lynn Rodgers and Hubert Todd. Honorary pallbearers were 
Dennis Atkins, Rick Calhoun, Stanley Farmer, John Gillion, Bob Jett and 
T.M. Jones.
