Mr. Marvin Lee Smith, age 73, of Colt, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 1999, in an
automobile accident. Mr. Smith was born April 3, 1926, in Colt, the son of the
late Dudley T. and Mathilda Ellis Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Colt and
was the owner and operator of a sawmill. He is survived by his wife, Barbara
Morris Smith of the home; six sons, Roy Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., Marvin M.
Smith of Harrison, Andy Smith of Colt, David C. Smith, Murray Smith and Larry
Smith, all of Wynne; three daughters, Jeanne C. Wolfe of Wynne, Linda Pierce of
Jonesboro and Patty S. Ruesing of Greenbrier; two brothers, B. F. Smith of Wynne
and Frank Smith of Cherry Valley; two sisters, Pauline Hodges and Minnie
Proctor, both of Wynne; 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith
was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Lee Smith; five brothers and two
grandsons. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999,
at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne with Rev. Elzie Frazier of the
Ellis Faith Assembly Church and David Yates, of the Pine Tree Baptist Church
officiating. Burial was in the Barnishaw Cemetery in the Pine Tree Community
under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne and McCrory. The
family requests memorials be made to the Ellis Faith Assembly Church or
Barnishaw Cemetery.
