Deaths: Burial: 09/02/32 FUSSELL BERRY 1 23 1851 9 2 1932 CITY Berry Fussell, age 81, died this morning, 09/02/32, at his home about a mile north of town, having been ill for several weeks. The funeral services will be held at the home of his niece, Mrs.Burk Mann, Saturday morning, with Rev.J.T.Willcoxon conducting the ceremony, interment to follow in the Forrest City cemetery. Pall bearers will be as follows:Fenner Eldridge, Chas.Havens, Thomas O'Brien, Bruce Smith, V.O.Turner, and J.A.Gray. The deceased leaves his wife, Mrs.Alice Fussell, one sister, Mrs.E.T.Colt of Oklahoma City, one niece, Mrs.Burk Mann and three nephews, James Fussell, Ed James and Alston Taylor. Mr.Fussell was born in Trenton, Tenn., Jan.23,1851, and soon afterwards his parents, James Vaulx Fussell and Louisa (Alston) Fussell, moved to Memphis where he spent his boyhood. He moved to St.Louis as a young man and there met, and married Miss Alice McClure in 1891. In 1905 they moved to Forrest City where he has since been engaged in farming and dairy business. According to Sheriff Campbell, Burd had brooded over the deed and the trial due Sep.12, that he became desperate, knowing that he would be inevitably be sentenced to life, if not condemned to the electric chair. Burrow was carried to Memphis for further treatment. 09/16/32 HAYES EVA MRS BOYETT 1 17 1896 9 1932 TEXAS Mrs.Homer E.Hayes, 36, died Thursday night of last week following an illness of only two days. She was apparently in good health Tuesday night when she retired, but was found unconscious Wednesday morning, having become ill with uremic poisoning. She never rallied, and died Thursday night. Eva Boyett was born Jan.17,1896 at Forrest City, Arkansas, where she was married to Mr.Hayes in 1914 and returned to Deport with him to make their home. Four children were born to them, three of whom survive, Dorothy, James and Jenny Boyett, survive. She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs.Jenny Boyett of Forrest City, and three sisters, Mrs.B.L.Butler of Widener, and Mesdammes Claud Cowden and Maud Hoffman of Memphis. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Friday, conducted by Rev.Wm.Avery Rogers, the pastor, with interment in Deport cemetery. She was an active member of the Baptist church and its organizations. Funeral services were held in Haynes this morning where he was born, and farmed in that vicinity until two years ago when he went to live with his daughter. The death was not reported to Coroner Sulcer, yesterday, and arrangements had been made for funeral this afternoon, without an inquest. Funeral services for Mrs.W.R.Myers, 48, years, who ended her life on Sunday morning, were held Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev.J.C.Fleshman of the Christian church, with burial in Hughes cemetery. Undertaker Kernodle. 10/06/32 FRENCH ARTHUR WILLIAM 12 19 1897 10 5 1932 SALEM Arthur William French, age 35 years, died at the Baptist hospital in Memphis Wednesday morning, Oct.5,1932. The body was returned here in the W.E.Stevens ambulance, and the funeral was held this afternoon at Salem cemetery near Goodwin. Deceased is survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs.W.E.French of Goodwin. An autopsy performed at the hospital confirmed that his death was from typhoid fever. Deceased was born in Brockway, Pa., on July 2,1904, and came to this city with her parents when a mere child. Until her illness a few months ago she had been making her home in Little Rock, where her husband, John C.Crook is employed, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of that city. Ewing Halbert in March of 1862 in Tennessee. I think he was born in Marshall County, but I have no proof. Jim married Lillian Katherine Harden, his second cousin, on Christmas Eve of 1889 in Lewisburg, Marshall County, TN. This union produced a daughter, Tommye Lenice (1892-1977) Mary Sue (1894-?), and William Paul(1898-1977). They left Tennessee in a covered wagon in about 1893 on a journey to Oklahoma, where other brothers and sisters had gone. They were stranded in Eastern Arkansas due to bad cold weather and sick children. This is where Mary Sue died. They settled in Caldwell, Arkansas and Jim set up a blacksmith shop and grist mill to support his family. His wife, Lillian Katherine Halbert is buried in Forrest Park Cemetery, Created by: Susie G.
