Mrs. Clara Ramsey
NEODESHA - Mrs. Clara Ramsey, 83, of Neodesha, died at 8 a.m., Wednesday (Feb
21) at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Hom in Fredonia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday (Feb 23), at the Loran Fawcett
Funeral Home. Rev. John Page will officiate, with burial in the Neodesha
Cemetery.
Clara Ward was born March 31, 1895 at DeQueen, Ark., and on April 23, 1911 at
Gatesville, Tex. she married Jay Clyde Ramsey. He preceded her in death in
1975.
A former resident of Fredonia, she had lived in Neodesha since 1966.
Mrs. Ramsey was a member of the baptist church.
Survivors include a son, Preston Ramsey of Fredonia; two daughters, Mrs.
Estelle Clark of Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Nola Ambler, of San Jose, Calif.;
one sister, Lillie Ward, of Fredonia. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 21
great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Additional Comments:
Clara was the daughter of James Ward and Mary Ollie (Smith) Ward Nixon, married
9 Dec 1884 in Miller Co., Arkansas. They divorced sometime around 1904. Ollie
then moved to the Coryell Co./Bell Co., Texas area and became the 4th & final
wife of John Alfred Nixon, Sr. on March 3, 1909 in Coryell Co.
