John Stough 5 June 1924 Wichita Beacon (Kansas)

  “FORMER WICHITAN DIES. John Stough, Civil War Veteran, passes at Ft.
Smith, Ark. Tuesday.  John Stough, 79, Civil war veteran, formerly a
resident of Wichita for 39 years, died at the home of his son, Robert,
Ft. Smith, Ark., Tuesday at 10 p.m. Bright’s disease was given as the
cause of death.
”Mr. Stough came to Wichita in 1882 from Indiana. He resided here until
three years ago. He is a member of post No. 244 of the G.A.R. He is
survived by three sons, Charles, Wichita; Fred, Colorado; Robert, Ft.
Smith, Ark.; four daughters, Mrs. E. N. Owen, Wichita; Mrs. J. C. 
Miller,
Colorado; Mrs. Harold Callender, New York City; and Ruth, Washington,
D.C.
“Funeral services will be held at the Gill mortuary at 4 p.m. today. 
Rev. T. M. Cornelison, pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian church,
 will officiate. Members of post No. 244 have charge of the services at 
the grave in Highland cemetery.”
