HOEL -- John Hoel, 76 years of age died at his home, 1310 North Sixth
Street, at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening following a lingering illness.
Mr. Hoel was a retired farmer and a member of the G. A. R. Short funeral

which the body will be shipped for burial to Ratcliff, Ark. where deceased
lived before coming to Fort Smith. Interment will be made there in
Kersey Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. James

Smith, AR.
Cause of death: Cronic Dysentery
Burial: Kersey Cemetery, Ratcliff, AR
Funeral Paid By: Mr. Clarence Stephens $67.50
(Note: The town of Ratcliff is in Logan County; however, the Kersey
Cemetery is north of Ratcliff and is actually in Franklin County. I
checked the cemetery book for Kersey Cemetery and it did not list a
John Hoel. This only means that he does not have a headstone or the
headstone was not readable.)
