Bonanza, Ark., Dec. 11.  Funeral services for J. S. BOBO, one of the most highly 
respected citizens in Bonanza, whose death occurred Friday morning, were held 
from the home Sunday afternoon. Rev. P. A. Standwich of Midland, Ark., pastor of 
the church there officiated. Interment was made in the Mountain View cemetery.  
Mr. Bobo was born in Tennessee, January 24, 1847.  

He was married to Miss Lula Favors October 24, 1892, and came to Arkansas several 
years ago. His wife and three children, Mrs. W. D. FRANCIS, of Fort Smith, Mrs. 
[Prudence] VIRLIN SMITH, of Bonanza, and Miss RENA BOBO of Fort Smith, Survive.  
One son, Sergeant JOHN A. BOBO, was killed July 18, 1918 [at Chateau Thierry, 
France and posthumously awarded, The Distinguished Service Cross & The Victory 
Medal], while in service with the American Expeditionary forces in the World War.  

Mr. Bobo was a member of the Missionary Baptist church, uniting with that 
congregation in 1894.  He fought during the war between the states in the Monroe 
regiment.  He was one of the most widely known and respected citizens in this 
section of the country.
