	Beatrice Imogene Nix of Waldron, Arkansas died Wednesday, 
September 25, 2002 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She was a retired nurses 
aid and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was the widow of 
Albert Nix.
	Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Friday, September 22, 
2002 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial following 
at Duncan Cemetery in Waldron.
	She is survived by one daughter, Norma Starr of Waldron; two 
sons, Douglas Nix of Parks, Arkansas and Paul Nix of Van Buren, Arkansas; 
two sisters, Opan Miller and Eloise Jennings both of Dallas, Texas; 
9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
	Pallbearers were Bart Starr, Brian Nix, David Russell, Jimmy 
Russell, Eric Brown and Larry Brown.

	ARIZONA--We were sorry to hear of the death of Ora Lee 
Burnett, 76, wife of Denver Burnett. Mrs. Burnett died on 
September 22, 2002 at Phoenix, Arizona. Besides her husband, 
Denver, she leaves three children, Pat, Jimmy and Betty Sue 
all of Phoenix and three grandchildren.
	She was a sister-in-law to J.D. Burnett and Sue Bottoms 
of Waldron.

	Jackie Junior Wright, 72, of Waldron died Sunday, 
September 29, 2002 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired 
supervisor at Waldron Furniture Factory and a farmer. He was 
preceded in death by his parents, Argus and Jewel Wright, a 
sister, Olgia Jones and a brother, Virgil Lee Wright.
	Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, 
October 2, 2002 at the Waldron Pentecostal Church of God with 
burial at Pilot Prairie Cemetery in Waldron under the direction 
of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	He is survived by his wife Edith of the home; two 
daughters, Belynda Bailey of Lewisville, Texas and Diane Ivy 
of Jackson, Mississippi; four sons, Howard, Mike, Keith and Heath 
all of Waldron; one sister, Betty Potter of Waldron; two brothers, 
V.L. Wright and Thomas Wright both of Waldron; 15 grandchildren 
and 8 great-grandchildren.

JONATHAN TAYLOR
	Jonathan Eric Taylor, 15, of Mansfield, Arkansas died 
Sunday, September 29, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a 10th 
grade student at Mansfield High School, a member of the BETA 
Club, Model U.N., International Club, G.T. Golf Team, Speech 
Club and was an honor student and a member of Mansfield First 
Baptist Church.
	Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, October 
3, 2002 at the Mansfield High School Gymnasium with burial at 
Pleasant Grove #2 Cemetery in Abbott, Arkansas under the direction 
of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.
	He is survived by his parents, John and Ronna Taylor of 
Mansfield; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Jean Starr of 
Waldron and his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Barbara Taylor 
of Lucas, Arkansas; and one sister, Katie of the home.

ROBERT "BOB" R. CRUMP
	Robert "Bob" R. Crump, 77, of McMinnville, OR died Monday, 
September 30, 2002 at McMinnville, OR. He was born February 20, 
1925 in Waldron, AR to Rufus and Christian A. Rose Crump.
	He was raised and schooled in Waldron, Arkansas and graduated 
from Waldron High School in 1944. He married Joyce Cooper (who was 
raised in Mena, AR) July 15, 1944 in Waldron, AR. He was in the Naval 
Reserve from 1951 to 1952. He attended Oakland Junior College, San 
Jose City College, Chemeketa and Linfield College from 1956 to 1963.
	After marriage he moved to Hayward, CA and then to Fremont, 
CA in 1950. He moved to Sheridan in 1961 and to McMinnville in 1964. 
He began working for Field Emission in 1961 which was later purchased 
by Hewlett-Packard Corp., retiring in 1986. While working for H-P, he 
was a model maker, tooling engineer and design draftsman.
	He was a charter member, Deacon, and Honorary Elder of Community 
Christian Church, McMinnville. He was a member of the Oregon Pilots 
Association during which time he built his own airplane and was a 
flight instructor; member of Yamhill County Sheriff's Air Posse. He 
received his Life Membership Certificate from the Masonic Grand Lodge 
of Oregon in 2000 and was the Worshipful Master for the local Lodge 
#43 in 1972. He was active in the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Association 
and was part of the Mavericks Band which played for many activities in 
the county as well as retirement homes in the area.
	His hobbies included camping, flying, repairing and building 
musical instruments, playing musical instruments, and his family said 
that he had a strong Christian faith, loved his family, and was a 
friend to everyone.
	He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Crump and Ambers 
Crump and a sister, Georgia.
	He is survived by his wife, Joyce Crump of McMinnville, OR; one 
son, Bob L. Crump of Post Falls, ID; one daughter, Margie Myers of 
McMinnville, OR; one brother, Elvert Crump of Oklahoma City, OK; and 
one sister, Nellie Lewis of Chowchilla, CA; four grandchildren and two 
great-grandchildren.
	Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 3 at 
Community Christian Church with Pastor Jim Kirby and Pastor Jim Stark 
officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum 
in McMinnville, OR. Contributions may be made to Community Christian 
Church or Health Dynamics Hospice, c/o Macy & Son Funeral Directors.

MARVIN E. COINER
	FT. SMITH--Funeral services for Marvin E. Coiner, 85, of Ft. 
Smith were held Monday, October 9, 2002 at 9 am at Edwards Funeral 
Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at US National Cemetery in 
Fort Smith.
	Mr. Coiner died Thursday, October 3, 2002 in Fort Smith. He 
was a retired salesman for the Broadview Lumber Company, a WWII Army 
veteran, a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, the United Commercial 
Travelers and American Legion.
	He taught Sunday school for the junior boys at Grand Avenue 
Baptist Church, served on the building committee for the church, was 
a member of the Jolly Travelers at Grand Avenue and was in charge of 
transportation for the senior citizens. He was also a member of the 
United Commercial Travelers and the Militaries 979th Military Police 
Company in Germany.
	His life revolved around family, church and friends.
	He was preceded in death by Harve E. Coiner of Jasper, Missouri; 
Myrtle Owen McCracken of Carthage, Missouri and Lloyd Coiner of Carthage, 
Missouri.
	Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Nancy Catherine 
Honeycutt of Van Buren and Janice Sue Pearson of Alma; a son, Ronald Earl 
Coiner of Mountain Center, California; a brother, Harvey J. Coiner of 
Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, J. Marvin Honeycutt and Katherine 
Honeycutt of Van Buren, Holley Motley of Waldron, Christen House of Alma, 
Sgt. Blain Pearson of Lawton, Oklahoma and Heather Coiner of Toronto, 
Canada; eight great grandchildren, Jess, Sam, Ben and Cara Honeycutt of 
Van Buren, Kane Knight and Chase Pearson of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Kobe 
Motley of Waldron; and many nieces and nephews.
	Honorary pallbearers were members of Department 10 Sunday School 
Class at Grand Avenue Baptist Church.

	WALDRON--Funeral services for Kenneth Edward "Pops" Yandell, 
70, of Waldron were held Monday, October 7, 2002 at 2 pm at Waldron

under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	Mr. Yandell died Friday, October 4, 2002 in a Waldron hospital. 
He was a retired timber worker and attended Waldron Assembly of God 
Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Liddie 
Yandell and a sister, Ella Irene McConnell.
	Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Charles Yandell of Hartford, 
Donnie Wayne Yandell and Jimmy Don Yandell both of Waldron and William 
Fry Yandell of Barling; a sister, Freda Mae Carter of Waldron; three 
brothers, LC Yandell of Dakota City, Nebraska and Opal Franklin 
Yandell and MC Yandell both of Waldron; eleven grandchildren and 
several nieces and nephews.

	MANSFIELD--Funeral services for Bradley Wade Greene, 43, of 
Mansfield were held Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at 2 pm at Fellowship

	Mr. Greene died Monday, September 30, 2002 in a Little Rock 
hospital. He was a machinist for Hickory Springs Manufacturing, a 
member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was president of Mansfield 
Baseball Association.
	He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Greene.
	Survivors include his wife Kristi of the home; three sons, 
BJ Greene, Jessie Greene and Chris Greene all of the home; his 
mother, Mary Jane Greene of Greenwood; a sister, Nancy Barnes of 
Hartford; and a brother, Lynn Greene of Hawaii.

a nephew, Darrel Evans.

OPIE FRED STINSON
	Opie Fred Stinson, 73, passed away on September 8, 2002 
in a Hanford, California hospital. He was born May 13, 1929 in 
Waldron, Arkansas. He had lived in the Corcoran, California area 
for 50 years and was a ranch foreman for J.G. Boswell Co. He was 
a veteran of the Korean War, having served as a Staff Sgt. in 
the U.S. Army. He was a man that was well liked by all those 
that worked for him as well as all those that knew him.
	He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vera of the 
home; three sons, Freddie and Michael of Corcoran, CA and Steve 
of Atascadero, CA; one daughter, Patricia Mata of Corcoran, CA; 
nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
	He is also survived by two sisters, Norma Cockrell of 
Fresno, CA and Erma Worthen of Waldron, AR; a niece and nephew, 
Jimmy Clyde Stinson and Linda Slater both of Waldron, AR.
	Graveside services were held on Friday, September 13th 
at the Corcoran Cemetery with arrangements by People's Funeral 
Chapel.

DELMA INGLE STANDERFER
	WALDRON--Delma Ingle Standerfer died on October 15, 2002.
Visitation was at Martin Funeral Home in Waldron on Thursday 
October 16, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There was a graveside
service Friday October 18, at 10:00 a.m. with burial at Parks
Cemetery in Nola.
	She was born July 8, 1912 to Alex and Mattie, was the
widow of Buster, and sister to Arnold, her only surviving sibling.
She was a life-long student of the Bible, and her wisdom, 
knowledge of God, and relationship with Jesus was evident to
everyone who knew her.
	Her children, Evelyn (and Dub), Fritz, Tommy (and Sandy),
Ted (and Karen) extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Russell
Young and Mom's "angels" at Mercy hospital of Scott County, to
Dr. David Hunton, Kim West, and the 4400 nursing staff at St.
Edward's for the wonderful, tender care that Mom received.
	Her grandchildren, Jeri (and Larry), Jayme, Josh, Andrea
and Claire, great-grandchild, Case (and Michael), and great great
grandchild, Cameron also thank everyone who helped in any way to
make Mammaw feel better.
	Pallbearers were Tom, Ted, and Josh Standerfer, Dub
Smalling, Larry Jones, Michael St. John and Gary Ingle.

	Clara Bell Gill, 88, of Booneville, Arkansas died Sunday,
Oct. 20, 2002 in an Ozark hospital. She was a homemaker, member
and Sunday school teacher at Union Hope Baptist Church in Tate,
AR and a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded
in death by one son and two daughters, James Dwain Gill, Wilma Jo
McBee and Martha Jane Gill.

23, 2002 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, AR with
burial at Taylor Cemetery in Tate, AR under the direction of

	William Gene (Billy) Stidman, 48, of Boles, Arkansas died

and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents,

	A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
	He is survived by his wife, Maxine; four sons, Tony Hubbell
of Tulsa, William Gene Stedman, Jr. of Waldron, Johnny Stedman of
Gypsy, OK and Brandon Hubbell of Waldron; one sister Sharon
Shelton of Klamath Falls, OR; four brothers, Danny Stidman, Bobby

RICHARD F. ALLEN
	Wiley Richard Franklin Allen, known to friends and family
as Richard, passed from this life on October 22, 2002 in Ft. Smith,
Arkansas, after a short illness. He was aged 68 years, 6 months
and 1 day. Richard was born on April 21, 1934 in Levelland, Texas,
the son of Homer Anderson Allen & Susie (Millsaps) Allen, and
lived in Texas & Phoenix, Arkzona, before moving with his parents
to Blue Mountain, Arkansas.
	Richard met & married the love of his life, Delois Eugenia
"Jean" (Thomas) Allen in 1958, they settled in the Mansfield area,
and unto them were born three daughters: Karen Jean (Allen) Davis,
Sharon E.S. (Allen) White, and Shelbie Diann Allen.
	Richard was a graduate of the Magazine High School class of
1952, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. In 1966,
Richard was elected Mayor of Mansfield, Arkansas, where he had
lived for many years, and he served as the town Marshal of
Mansfield for a number of years, a position of trust that he took
to heart. Richard was a real estate broker for 38 years, and an
active member of the Arkansas Realtor's Association.
	Richard spent the last several years living in Newton
County, Arkansas, recently relocating to Clarksville, Arkansas.
	Richard never met a stranger, was an avid sportsman &
hunter, a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved communing
with nature, which was second only to being with his family.
	Richard is survived by his wife of 44 1/2 years, Jean, of
the home.
	He is also survived by daughter Karen, son-in-law Tim, and
granddaughter Jade Renee Davis of West Palm Beach, Florida, his
daughter Sharon White, son-in-law Randy, grandson Joshua Pascal,
step granddaughter Dasha White & step grandson Justin White, of
Wheelersburg, Ohio, and his youngest daughter, Shelbie Diann
Allen and friend, Jules Baxley of Roswell, New Mexico. He also
leaves his mother-in-law Erma Thomas of Waldron, his maternal
aunts, Nellie Lee & Mary Clevenger of Knoxville, Tennessee, the
Charles & Frances Hunt family of Waldron, the Jimmy & Dolly
Bartlett family of Mansfield, the Jim & Margie Thomas family of
Bixby, Oklahoma and many, many friends.
	Those who knew Richard well will not mourn his passing,
but celebrate his life - a life that epitomized strength of
character, courage & individuality. He will, however, be
greatly missed by family & friends.
	Happy Hunting, Dad, until we see you again!
	He will be laid to rest at Coop Prairie Cemetery in
Mansfield. Funeral services were held Friday, October 25,

CHARLES RAY AMMONS
	Charles Ray Ammons of Blaine, WA, born August 20, 1951 to
Edgar & Clemmie Mae Ammons of Arkansas, left this world Monday,
October 21, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar
& Clemmie Mae and his baby son, Jon.
	He is survived by his wife, Paula' daughters, Dariel Rhodes
of TX, Andrea and Christina of the family home; sisters, Melba
Losing, Della Brockel, Jean Wiseman all of MT and Gail Bottoms
of AR; in-laws, Joseph & Ramona Mills of Blaine, their children
& spouses; along with numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren
in numerous states.
	Charles served in the U.S. Air Force for 15 years. He 
worked his way up the ladder to become a Staff Sergeant stationed
in many areas of the U.S., Europe & Asia.
	He was a very loving husband, father, brother, uncle,
grandfather, and in-law, who will be missed by the many people
whom he's touched throughout his life.
	A funeral service with military honors was held Monday,
October 28, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ferndale Moles Funeral Home
Chapel, 2039 Main St., Ferndale. The Reverend Wolfgang Schweder

MRS. ROCHELLE KULP
	Mrs. Rochelle Kulp of Y-City, Arkansas died peacefully in
her home Tuesday, October 22, 2002.
	She was born September 3, 1940 in Schuylkill County, 
Pennsylvania. Her age being 62 years, 1 month and 19 days.
	Mrs. Kulp was the daughter of the late William Lahr ad
the late Alverda Lucas Lahr. She was united in marriage to Rev.
Ben Kulp of Wayside Chapel.
	She graduated from Reading Hospital School of Nursing in
1961 and in 1964 received her BSN in nursing. Much of her nursing
career was spent with Mena Medical Center where she was much
appreciated and admired for her love, dedication, generosity
and service to others. It was part of her nature to "be there"
for anyone in need of assistance; especially the lonely, sick
and elderly.
	She was sensitive and special, never overlooking the 
smallest detail for the comfort and pleasure of those she served.
Cleaning, cooking, physical and nutritional assistance and advice,
therapy, counseling, listening, prayer...these were just a few of
the ways in which she ministered to others.
	Thoroughly familiar with the Word of God, she offered
counsel and comfort to hurting, struggling people. She always
served willing and cheerfully as unto the Lord, giving Him the
glory. Never bringing attention to her own needs or suffering,
she put others' needs first.
	Rochelle will always be remembered for her undying love,
special dedication, sacrificial service, intercessory prayer
on behalf of others, and most of all for her devotion and faith
in her Lord Jesus Christ.
	She is survived by her husband, Rev. Ben Kulp of Y-City,
AR; one brother, Roger Lahr of Bally, PA; two sisters, Irene
Ossman of Gilbertsville, PA and Karen Saul of Douglasville, PA;
several nieces, nephews and friends.
	Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October
26 in the Wayside Chapel with Rev. Gene Vincent officiating.
Interment was in the Chant Cemetery under the direciton of
Hall Funeral Service.
	Pallbearers were Roger Lahr, Fred Saul, David Kulp,
Joe Marrone, Peter Herr & Michael Hawley. Honorary pallbearers
were Bob Ossman and Johnny Sexton.

	Joyce Faye Vaught, 64, of Waldron passed from this life
Wednesday, October 30, 2002, in her home. She was employed at
Waldron Middle School for 23 years and a member of Waldron
Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Grady and Ona Cole, one brother Lonzo Cole, one 
sister, Opal Nelson and her first husband, Glen Van De Wiele.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November
2, 2002 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Holleman, Rev.
Brad Kuhl and Rev. James Rector officiating. Interment was at
Duncan Cemetery in Waldron with Rev. Ben Jackson and Travis
Plummer officiating under the direction of Martin Funeral
Home of Waldron.
	Joyce is survived by her husband, Tony, a daughter and
son-in-law, Glenda and Terry Plummer of Waldron, two grandsons,
Travis Plummer of Conway, Arkansas and Trey Plummer of Waldron,
one brother, Johnny Cole of Ft. Smith, one sister, Emma Watkins
of Weed, California and a host of nieces, nephews, other family
and friends. She is also survived by four foreign exchange
grandchildren, Dean of Norway, Ainhoa of Spain, Anna of Germany
and Marta of Switzerland.
	Pallbearers were Stanley Brewer, Kerry Barnett, Charlie
Riddle, Bill Yates, Dale Kopf and Shane Medford. Honorary
pallbearers were Herman Atchley, Kelly Ashford, Bill Needham,
John Clyma, Wayne Davis, Harold Carter, James Kopf, Kenny
Hanna, Jerry Williams, Brent Keener, Phil Ayers, Brother
Herbert Rogers, Dr. Mark Bailey, Billy Hiaumel, and the entire
staff of Waldron Middle School.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retired
farmer.

	Wayne Andrews, 67, of Heavener, Oklahoma died Sunday,
November 3, 2002 in his home. He was a life-long resident of
the area, and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was
a rancher and livestock auctioneer, member of the National
Cattleman's Association, Texas Cattle Feeders Assoc., and
Oklahoma Farmers Union.
	Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday,
November 6 at First Baptist Church in Heavener, OK with 
burial at Mt. View "Glendale" Cemetery at Howe, OK under the
direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener, OK.
	He is survived by his wife, Thelma; one daughter-in-
law, Sharon Andrews Steele of Spiro, OK; one son and
daughter-in-law, Mike and Mary Andrews of Howe, OK; and
three grandchildren, Tammy Villines and husband Todd, Michael
and Jordan Andrews.

	Paul C. "Bill" Currier, 81, of Waldron, Arkansas died
Friday, November 8, 2002 in a Waldron nursing home. He was an
Army veteran of World War II, retired co-owner & operator of
Currier Brothers Butane Company, and retired civil service at
Fort Chaffee in maintenance.
	Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Monday, November
11, 2002 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas
with interment at the Duncan Cemetery.
	He is survived by one brother, Jim Henry Currier of 
Waldron, Arkansas; three nieces, Gretta Ann Newman and husband

	Marion Albert Foster, age 89, of Waldron died Friday,
November 8, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Waldron, Arkansas. He
was born February 22, 1913 in Waushara County, Wisconsin (near
Hancock) to the late Charles and Lola Robinson Foster. He was
a farmer.
	He was preceded in death by his infant twin sister,
Marjorie, his son, Freeman Marion Foster, his wife, Waleta
Jost Foster, and his brothers, Norris, Elvin, Charles and
Alan Foster.
	He is survived by his son, Glen Walter Foster of 
Harvey, Arkansas; sister, Helen Stebnitz of North Dakota,
and sisters-in-law, Eva Foster and Bonnie Ebert of Wisconsin.
	A Memorial service was held Monday, November 11, 2002 
at 2:00 p.m. at the Gravelly Methodist Church with Rev. David
Williams and Rev. Royce Savage officiating. Arrangements were

	Marvin Edward Phelps, 85, of Waldron, Arkansas passed
away Wednesday, November 13, 2002 in a Ft. Smith hospital. He
was the former president of the Bank of Waldron, Perry County
Bank, Bank of Arkansas, Citizens Bank of Batesville and Merchants
Bank of West Memphis. He was also a past member of the Lions
Club, Chamber of Commerce, Sodie Davidson Park Board, Waldron
Country Club as well as several other civic clubs. He was a 
veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy and a member of the Waldron
Methodist Church.
	Local arrangements were made by Martin Funeral Home of
Waldron, Arkansas. Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm at
Mt. Olivet Cemetery of McKenzie, TN under the direction of
Brummitt Funeral Home.
	He is survived by his wife Mary Frances Phelps and one
son Edward Lynn Phelps of Waldron, Arkansas.

JOHNNIE L. HERNREICH
	Johnnie L. Hernreich, 77, of Fort Smith, Arkansas died
November 17, 2002 in a local hospital. She was the semi-retired
President and Financial Officer of Esquire Jewelers, Inc.,
having spent the last 50 years there.
	Johnnie was a long standing member of the Jeweler's 
Board of Trade, a member of the Bonneville House, an original
board member of Sister Cities Committee with Cisterna, Italy.
She was a former member of Business and Professional Women's
Club, and a former Trustee of the Sparks Hospital Board.
	She was a driving force along with George Hernreich, in
operating KFPW Radio Fort Smith, KAIT TV Jonesboro, KZNG Radio
Hot Springs and Channel 40 Fort Smith. She was preceded in 
death by her husband George Hernreich and her son, Bill G.
Jones.
	Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,
November 20, 2002 at Goddard United Methodist Church with
burial at Roselawn Cemetery next to her beloved husband of
20 years, George Gernreich under the direction of Edwards 
Funeral Home.
	She is survived by her son, Larry Murry and daughter-
in-law Linda Murry both of Fort Smith; one sister, Mildred
Stephens of Fort Smith; one brother, Verdell Jones of Lawton,

	Bruce Lamar Hunnicutt, 72 years old, of Gravelly, passed

	Bruce is survived by his wife of 53 years and best

in-law Linda and Ron Sayre of Shawnee, Kansas; granddaughters

FRANCES LEE VINES
	Frances Lee Vines, born January 16, 1926 in Asher,
Oklahoma, passed from this life on Monday, November 18, 2002.
	She and her husband Bird Vines of Y-City, Arkansas
were owners of Midway Park Restaurant and Gift Shop for 48
years. Mrs. Vines was a former board member of the Arkansas
Restaurant Association for a number of years; founding board
member of Scott County Hospital; former board member of Sodie
Davidson Park and a member of Eastern Star. Her interests
included gardening, crafts, quilting, fishing and camping.
She was proud to have played on the 1943 Oklahoma State
Basketball Championship team of the Asher High School 
Indians.
	She is survived by her husband Bird Vines, a daughter
Nancy Carol Roach and her late husband Gary Roach of Blanchard,
Oklahoma, two sons, Gary Richardson and wife Phyllis of
Waldron, Bert Wayne Vines and wife Lisa of Bartlesville,
Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Annette Shepard
and a grandson Jerry Lynn Roach.
	Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November
20, 2002 at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel with interment
in the Dooley Cemetery in Boles, Arkansas under the
direction of the Martin Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

	Parks--Funeral services for James Milton Phillips, 74,
of Parks were held Monday, November 25, 2002 at 10 am at

Funeral Home of Waldron.
	Mr. Phillips died Friday, November 22, 2002 at his
home. He was a retired Air Force CMSgt., a veteran of 
WWII and Korea. He was a member of Knight Templar, was a
Mason, and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in
Lubbock, Texas. On July 26, 1960 and March 25, 1965 he
received the Air Force Commendation Medal and on June 25,
1964 he received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
	Survivors include his wife, Eva of the home; three
nephews, Brian Phillips and wife Beverly of San Jose,
California, Michael Phillips of Marysville, Washington and
Brandon Phillips; two nieces, Linda Whitman and husband Ron
of Camano Island, Washington and Brenda Truss; four great
nephews, Austin Phillips, Tyrell Truss, Zacharia Whitman
and Joshua Whitman; three great nieces, Kristi Whitman,
Anastashia Phillips and Shayna Truss; one sister-in-law,
Mrs. Bob Phillips of Marysville, Washington; and one
brother, Charles Odean Phillips of Rio Dell, California.

	Mr. Vorpagel died November 25, 2002 at a Little Rock
hospital. He was an employee of St. Edward Mercy Medical
Center, attended Waldron First Baptist Church and was a
veteran of the US Navy.
	Survivors include his wife, Esther of the home; a
daughter, Syndeea of the home; two sons, Keith and Richard
both of the home; a step-daughter, Kellie Timmons of
Springfield, Illinois; his father, Donald Vorpagel of
Sterling, Oklahoma; three sisters, Debbie Newton of Tulsa,
Oklahoma, Pat Parsley of Cyril, Oklahoma and Wanda 
Houghtaling of Watertown, New York; three brothers, Donnie

SIMONE JEANNE MARCELE DOCKINS
	Simone Jeanne Marcele Dockins was born on November 14,
1925 in Biebrich, Germany and left this earth on November 29,
2002 in Fort Smith. She was 77 years old living with her
beloved husband of 53 years, Bill Dockins.
	She lived her last 14 years in Waldron, AR where she
enjoyed going yard-saling, fishing, and taking drives through
the country. She also enjoyed going to Black Hawk, Colorado.
	Simone, "Mona," is survived by her husband Wilbur "Bill"
Dockins of Waldron; three children, Jurgen "Yogi" Grandcourt of
Denver, CO, Ruth Green of Louisville, KY and Ronald Dockins of
Mansfield. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
	A memorial service was held Saturday, November 30, 2002
in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith. She was a beloved
wife, mother and grandmother. The Good Lord blessed us all by
bringing Mona "Mamma" into this world. The life she gave to all
of us will live on forever. She will truly be missed but never
forgotten. She will always be in our hearts.

JOHN MORRISON
	The Good Shepherd had a purpose and a plan when he
called one of his sheep by name. John Morrison was called
into the fold on November 16, 2002 to live in one of God's
Mansions.
	John was born January 11, 1917 in Missouri. He was
raised in Arkansas and was the youngest of 8 children. He
began his carpentry career in his early teenage years at the
Forester Lumber Mill. John met Katherlene Jameson from
nearby Parks, Arkansas, and was married in 1939.
	During World War II they moved with their newborn
daughter Guinette to San Francisco, where John worked as a
carpenter at the shipyards. After the war, they returned to
Arkansas, then moved to San Diego in 1948.
	Ron, John's son came along shortly thereafter. John
then began a long career with American Products Mill,
Incorporated, where he retired in 1982.
	After retirement, he enjoyed puttering in his wood
shop, inventing and making things like jar openers and
cabinets. Gardening and showing off what he had grown also
became a favorite pastime. John and Kay always looked 
forward to spending their summers in the High Sierras
where they served as campground host for many years.
	John leaves to cherish his memory, wife Katherlene
of National City; daughter Guinette Beckstron of Chula
Vista; son Ron Morrison of National City; seven grandchildren,
Jim, Penny, Jeremy, Matthew, Jennifer, Joshua and Janice;
four great grandchildren, Brian, Scott, Michael and Amanda;
also a host of other relatives and many friends whom he
loved dearly.

	Ms. Riddle died Friday, December 6, 2002 in Waldron.
She was a member and Sunday School teacher at the Living
Word Tabernacle. She was preceded in death by her father,
Ellis Riddle and a nephew, Travis Dragoo.
	Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Riddle of
Waldron; a son, Robert and wife Eliana Riddle of Waldron;
a sister, Linda Dragoo of Waldron; a brother, Cleaston
Riddle of Waldron; and three grandchildren, Josheua, Tifany
and Robie.
	Pallbearers were Waylon Deramus, Eli Clayton, Donnie
Scantling, Johnnie Scantling, Nathan Brown and Grady Bottoms.
	Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Isom and Jessie Randle.

	Ruth Ethel Frisch, 88, of Greenwood, Arkansas died
Saturday, December 7, 2002 in a Greenwood nursing home. She
was a retired bookkeeper and a member of the Calvary Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, G.B.
(Sha) Shahan and Edwin Frisch.
	Graveside service was at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10,
2002 at Coop Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield, AR under the
direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.
	She is survived by her niece, Carol McGill of Greenwood,
AR; and several other nieces and nephews.

December 9, 2002 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a home-
maker and a member of Howard Hill Assembly of God Church in

	Thelma Vines, age 89, of Stamps, Arkansas died Sunday,
December 8, 2002 at the Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia, Arkansas.
She was born July 2, 1913 in Columbia County, AR. Mrs. Vines 
was a homemaker and member of the North Acres Baptist Church
in Magnolia, AR. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Charlie Vines in 1982.
	She is survived by one son, Charles W. Vines of Columbia,
SC; one daughter & son-in-law, Doris & James Goodwin of Stamps,
AR; two sisters, Idelle Talley of Magnolia, AR and Marvie
Whatley of Oil City, LA; one grandson & wife, Charlie & Kay
Goodwin of Stamps, AR; and one great granddaughter, Kasey

ROBERT HARDIN
	Robert Leroy Hardin, age 63, of Needmore, Arkansas,
passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2002 in his home.
	He was born October 25, 1939, in Atoka, Oklahoma,
to the late Roy Lawrence Hardin and the late Edith Self
Hardin. He was united in marriage to Linda Wray. Mr. Hardin
was the District Representative for Pacific Gas and Electric.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Waldron Lodge, a Shriner,
a member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Order of
the Eastern Star. He was of the Baptist faith.
	Mr. Hardin was sent for cremation. A memorial service
was held on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 3 pm at the
Ouachita Mountain Missionary Baptist Church in Needmore
with Brother George Crump officiating. Arrangements were
made under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home
of Mena.
	He is survived by his wife Linda Hardin of Needmore,
Arkansas; one son Robert J. and his wife Teresa Hardin of
Needmore, Arkansas; two brothers, Billy Joe Hardin and
John Hardin both of Gilroy, California and one grandson,
Tucker Lawrence Hardin of Needmore, Arkansas.

	Mrs. Smith is survived by two nephews, Gene Sherrill
and his wife Linda of Houston, Texas and Wilbur Roark and
his wife Dorothy of Mena, Arkansas; two great-nephews,
Michael Sherrill of Orange, California and Kevin Roark
of Mena, Arkansas. Other survivors include two great-

JAMES DILLARD HAWKINS
	Waldron--Funeral services for James Dillard Hawkins,
68, of Waldron were held Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at
Parks Methodist Church. Burial, with military honors, 
followed at Hawkins Cemetery in Parks under the direction
of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	Mr. Hawkins died Saturday, December 14 at his home.
He was a retired electrical supervisor, a member of
Parks Methodist Church, a veteran of the US Navy, a member
of VFW Post #1435, was a past Waldron City Councilman, 
was a bus driver for Waldron Public Schools and was 
involved in many civic, veteran and children's organizations.
	Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; two
daughters, Melynda Morace of Oceanside, California and
Kimberly Spencer of Fort Worth, Texas; a son, James 
Hawkins of San Diego, California; three sisters, Geneive
Dailey of Waldron, Doris Lamon of Bull Shoals and Elgivia
Lisle of Fort Smith; three brothers, Paul Hawkins of Olathe,
Kansas, Bill Hawkins of Little Rock and Clifford Dailey
of Waldron; and five grandchildren.
	Pallbearers were Paul Hawkins, Bill Hawkins,
Clifford Dailey, Bill Lamon, Drake Hawkins and Dane
Hawkins.

CLAUDE DOUGLAS "DOUG" HUNT
	Claude Douglas "Doug" Hunt, 59, of Waldron,
Arkansas passed away on Monday, December 16, 2002 at
St. Edwards Medical Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
	He was born March 29, 1943 in Waldron to the
late Ellis and Elma Hunt of Waldron. He was a bread
truck driver for Colonial Bread, owner/operator of
the former Sonic Drive-In on Main St. and later Doug's
Drive In.
	He is survived by his wife, Ann of the home;
two sons, Shawn Hunt and his wife Debbie of Dover,
Arkansas and Clayton Hunt and his wife Jeannie of
Waldron; two brothers, Don Hunt of New Mexico and
Harold Hunt of California; two sisters, Wanda Watkins
of Waldron and Pam Langston of Fort Smith, AR; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
	Funeral arrangements were pending through

BETTY JO VISE ISENMAN
	Betty Jo Vise Isenman, age 81, of Little Rock
died Tuesday, December 10, 2002. She was born 
December 14, 1920 in Heavener, Oklahoma, to Clarence
Minor and Bertha Bethel Vise and was raised in 
Waldron, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Waldron
High School and the University of Arkansas, where
she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
	She was a communicant and charter member of
Christ the King Catholic Church, and she was also
a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre
of Jerusalem. She was a member of the Fair Park
Extension Homemakers Club.
	Survivors include her husband of 56 years,
Albert Walter Isenman, Jr; two sons, Dr. Albert
Walter Isenman III and his wife Cecelia of Evanston,
Illinois and Thomas Raymond Isenman and his wife
Gail of Little Rock; one daughter, Mary Bethel
Isenman of Nashville, Tennessee; one granddaughter,
Mary Colleen Isenman of Little Rock; one grandson,
Albert Walter Isenman IV of Evanston, Illinois; and
many other relatives.
	A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:00
pm. Friday, December 13, 2002 at Christ the King
Catholic Church with Msgr. Francis Malone officiating.
Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery.
	A Rosary was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday,
December 12, at Christ the King Catholic Church.

LUCILLE LINCKS RICE
	Lucille Lincks Rice, 84, of Van Buren, Arkansas
departed this life on Saturday, December 14th, 2002
in a local hospital.
	She was born September 19, 1918 in Bates,
Arkansas to William Henry and Lou Emma Sliger. She
was the widow of the late George Richard Lincks, her
first husband. She later remarried and was widowed by
the late Charles Waylen "Si" Rice of Waldron, AR.
	She was a homemaker, a member of the Senior
Bowling League at Midland Bowl on both teams; Blue
Monday and 39'ers Plus. She was a member of Northpark
Baptist Church and the LLL Club at Northpark Baptist
Church.
	Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday,
December 17th, 2002 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home
Chapel, with interment following at Forest Park Cemetery
in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma
Funeral Home, Van Buren, AR. Mrs. Rice's grandson,
the Reverend Randy Miller, with the Reverend Mike
Taylor assisting, conducted the service.
	She is survived by a daughter, Mona S. Miller
of Van Buren, AR; six sons, Richard M. Lincks of
Maumelle, AR, Darrell R. Lincks of Moore, OK,
Carroll R. Moore of Tulsa, OK, D.J. Lincks of Van
Buren, AR, Jim W. Lincks of Richardson, TX, and
John H. Lincks of Broken Arrow, OK; 14 grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great grand-
children also survive her.

Miller, Harold Gene Lincks, Mark Aaron Lincks,

ALLEN BURL SYLER
	Allen Burl Syler, age 76, of Arkadelphia died
December 11, 2002 at the National Park Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 10, 1926 in Scott County, Arkansas,
the son of the late George and Julie Browning Syler.
He was a retired employee of the U.S. Post Office, a
member of Sons of American Revolution, the Clark Co.
Historical Society and Third Street Baptist Church.
He was a WWII Army Air Corp. veteran serving in the
101st Heavy Bombardment Group.
	Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Clarice
Davis Syler; two sons, Wayne Syler and his wife Janet
of Bryant and Douglas Syler and his wife Linda of
Arkadelphia; one sister, Martha Lee Grigsby of Waldron,
AR; four grandchildren, James and his wife Stephanie
Syler, Julie Syler, Whitney Syler and Kenda Syler.
	Graveside services were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday,
Dec. 14, 2002 in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with
Rev. James Guthrie officiating. Interment was under
the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

the Ouachita Baptist Library or Clark Co. Historical
Society. Honorary pallbearers were employees of the
U.S. Post Office in Arkadelphia.

Legion.

Nazarene with burial at Birdsview Cemetery in Waldron.
