=====================================================================

The Chant Cemetery is located on Hwy 71 just north of Y-City, Arkansas
in Scott County. This is only a partial listing of this cemetery, that I
video taped around March 1999. Probably at least half of this cemetery
contains no headstones, and only rocks mark where those graves are located.
The majority of the unmarked graves are located in the front of the cemetery.
There are also quite a few headstones that have been handmade. The graves
face the east, but the headstones face the highway, this accounts for the
majority of the females listed on the left hand side on the headstones. Every
year around Memorial Day the graves are cleaned of all grass and debris by
family and friends, and flowers are placed on the graves, usually covering
the whole grave.
