Maysel Marie Smith Edwards, 82, of Searcy died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, in
Little Rock.

She was born March 17, 1924, at Rosebud to Howard R. Smith and Minnie B. Turner
Smith.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church in Little Rock for many
years and of First Baptist Church in Searcy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Leon Edwards: three brothers,
Edville Smith, Chester Smith and Randolph Smith; and one sister, Mildred
Nichols.

Survivors include three children, Danny L. Edwards and wife Janice of Sherwood,
Alice L. Housley and husband Jacky of Searcy, and Beverley Y. McConnell and
husband Russell of Bryant; two sisters, Evelyn Moore and Loretta Beaver and
husband Lindy of North Little Rock; one sister-in-law, Marie Smith of Searcy;
six grandchildren, Dana Tedford and husband Woody “Ted” of Sherwood, Shelley
Edwards of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Kimberley Davison of Sherwood, Dustin Housley of
Searcy and Lyndsey and Luke McConnell of Bryant; and four great-grandchildren,
Nicholas and Samuel Tedford, Kailey Dickerson and Sierra Davison.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills Funeral
Home, 10200 Arkansas 5 North in Alexander. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial
Park.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital Burn Unit, 800 Marshall
St., Little Rock, AR 72201.

Family comments: The family appreciates so much the prayers and phone calls from
family and friends, and the work of the Arkansas Children's Hospital Burn Unit,
whose doctors and nurses valiantly fight to save people's lives on a daily
basis.
