Summary:  Conveyance of a lot of land in the Town of Ravenden 
[Ravenden Springs? or is this the town of Ravenden which lies south of 
Ravenden Springs???], Randolph County, Arkansas from Porter Smith and 
Mildred Smith, his wife, to Jesse J.J. Curlin for the sum of $125.  
This land is described as Lot 3 in Block 18 which consists of 25 feet 
of frontage on the south side with Ash? Street? and 110 feet at a 
right angle to frontage and is the duplicate and opposite of Lot 16 in 
Block 5 [?].

Land involved: Lot 3 in Block 18 in Ravenden [or Ravenden Springs??]

Porter Smith to J.J. Curtin [Curlin] Deed



Know all men by these Present:  That ?? Porter Smith and Mildred Smith 
his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one Hundred and Twenty 
five ($125.00) Dollars to be paid by J.J. Curtin [Curlin] do hereby 
grant bargain and sell unto the said J.J. Curlin and unto his heirs 
and assigns forever the following lands lying in the County of 
Randolph and State of Arkansas to wit:
A piece of Land which shall be known as Lot Three (3) in Block 
Eighteen (18) being Twenty five (25) feet frontage on South side Ash? 
and One Hundred and ten feet deep at right angel [angle] to frontage 
and being the duplicate and opposite Lot Sixteen (16) in Block five 
(5) in the Town of Ravenden as delineated on the Plat made by A.P. 
Robinson and filed in the Clerks Office in this County and we do 
hereby covenant with the said J.J. Curlin that we will warrant the 
title to such lands against all claims whatever.  
To have and to hold the same to the said J.J. Curlin and unto his 
heirs and assigns forever with all appurtenances thereto belonging.  
And I Mildred Smith wife of the said Porter Smith for and in 
consideration of the said sum of money do hereby release and 
relinquish unto the said J.J. Curlin all my rights of dower in and to 
the said lands.
Witness our hands and seals on this the 9th day of January 1882.

Be it Remembered That undersigned a Justice of the Peace within and 
for the County aforesaid duly commissioned and acting  Porter Smith to 
me well known as the grantor in the foregoing Deed and Stated that he 
had executed the same for the consideration and purpose therein 
mentioned and set forth.  And on the same day also voluntarily 
appeared before me the said Mildred Smith wife of the said Porter 
Smith to me well known and in the absence of her said husband declared 
that she had of her own free will signed and sealed the relinquishment 
of Dower in the foregoing Deed for the purposes therein contained and 
set forth without compulsion or under influence of her said husband.
Witness my hand and seal as such Justice on the 9th day of January 
1882.
