JOHN MARSHALL SATTERFIELD

John Marshall Satterfield, age 58, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, October 
17, 2001. He was born in Little Rock, the son of the late Will Hammond & 
Ina McCarty Satterfield. He was a retired investment banker, having worked 
for W.H. Satterfield & Company, an early Little Rock Municipal bond 
underwriting firm founded by his father. Marshall grew up in Little Rock,
& attended public schools until the 1957 school crisis sent him to 
Chamberlain Hunt Academy in Port Gibson, Mississippi. he graduated with 
the first graduating class of Hall High School and was proud of his 
participation in carving of the Hall High School totem pole that graced 
the Hall High School courtyard. Always adventurous he and a friend, at 
age 17, drove their VW bug thru Mexico to Honduras. Marshall was a stanch 
individual, independent thinker, artist, & nature lover. He was an avid  
outdoorsman. He continued his love of woodworking by teaching his grandson 
Hunter, the art of  woodcraft. He was a courageous and brave man who was 
respected by his family and friends for the way he handled his many 
long-term illnesses as well as his continual support and help to others 
with their health problems. Many who enjoyed his friendship will miss him.  
Marshall is survived by his wife of 28 years, Louise Lowery Satterfield of 
Little Rock, 2 daughters April McCarty Satterfield Herrin & Husband Will 
of Little Rock, Katy Satterfield Landberg & Husband Karl of Conway, One 
Brother Brinton Satterfield of Florida, 1 Sister, Molly Satterfield of 
Little Rock, 1 grandson Hunter Landberg and his nephew Jake Limberg.  There 
will be a formal visitation Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ruebel 
Funeral Home followed Saturday with a graveside funeral service at 1:00 P.M. 
at Roselawn Cemetery.  Memorial in lieu of flowers should be sent to the 
Arkansas Cancer Research Center, 4301 West Markham Street, Slot 623, 
Little Rock, 72205
