Verna Mae Hudson  (1920-2006)          The Eagle Democrat, Warren,
Arkansas, January 3, 2007
Verna Mae Hudson, 86, of Little Rock, formerly of Warren, died Saturday,
December 30, 2006, at Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born February 15, 1920, in New Edinburg, she was a daughter of the late
Marvin Williams and Anna Belle Caraway Williams. She was a solutatorian
graduate of New Edinburg high School and a retired beautician. She was a
member of Park Place Baptist Church of Little Rock, and a longtime former
member of Calvary Baptist Church of Warren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Gene Williams and a sister,
Opal Jean Williams.
Survivors include her husband, Sidney Bruff Hudson, whom she married on
December 15, 1940, in New Edinburg; a son, Richard Bruff Hudson and wife,
Joanna of Fayetteville; a daughter, Marilyn Jones and husband Charles of
Little Rock; two brothers, Burgess Williams of Cornersville and Lathan
Williams of West Monroe, La.; four grandchildren, Misti Jones and Doug
Jones both of Little Rock, Jason Hudson and Hayes Hudson, both of
Fayetteville; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were January 2 a Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Rocky Goodwin
officiating. Joyce Pevey was pianist and the Pace Sisters sang. Burial
was in Oakland Cemetery with arrangements by Frazer’s Funeral Home of
Warren.
Active pallbearers were James Kitchens, Mike Williams, Chris Williams,
Jon Allen Williams, Terry Jones and Bob Powell.
