Russell Register, February 11, 1898
"In Memory of Thos. N. Ingram.

Our friends, during many years, are fast passing away. Who will go next? Are we
ready, as was our Brother Ingram? He had long been waiting the Father's call to
free him from severe bodily affliction and to introduce him, immortal into the
abode of the faithful, that home which no disease or trouble can invade. He been
a Baptist (Primitive) forty-six years. The most of his life a citizen of Russell
county, Alabama. True to the South, he lost a leg in battle, at Murphreesboro,
Tenn. He filled the office of tax assessor, acceptably, both in Alabama and
Arkansas. The last seventeen years of his life he lived in the latter state; and
at the age of seventy-four, died in Johnson county, Dec. 24, 1897. His dear
wife, with whom he had spent forty-eight years, preceeded [sic] him only a few
months. Seven children, all grown, besides very many friends, are left to mourn
our loss, which, we are confident, is his eternal gain. [signed] A BROTHER-IN-
LAW."
