He was a former resident of Pettigrew, son of the late James Robert and Dona Jones Gregory, farmer, member of Yale Full Gospel Church, and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gayle Seals Gregory; five daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Bob Acord of Farmington, Jean and Dan Core of Paris, Carolyn and Gary Yates of Oark, and Marilyn and Steve Pearson and Lynn and Dennis Steele, all of Clarksville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Tricia Gregory, Larry and Judy Gregory, and Gary and Theresa Gregory, all of Clarksville; one sister, Nola Dean Dickson of Tulsa, Okla.; and three brothers, Bill Gregory of Pettigrew, Roy Gregory of Springdale, and J. He was a retired AM Smelding Company employee, Navy veteran of World War II, member of the Assembly of God Church, son of the late John Wesley and Lula May Graves Warren, and was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Standridge Warren. He is survived by one daughter, Dorotha Brundige of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Irene Scott of Hagarville; four brothers, Leon Warren of Clarksville, Lewis Warren and Charlie Warren, both of Lamar, and Manford Warren of Colorado; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lena Van Diest Tschigg, widow of Lonenzo E. Dow, and a member of the Lutheran Church. She is survived by one daughter, Martha Robinson of Maryville, Tenn.; two sons, Joseph Dow of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Jim Dow of Clarksville; one granddaughter, Lisa Johnson of Clarksville; and one great-grandson, Preston Johnson of Clarksville. A prayer service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Loren E. Famuliner officiating. He was a son of the late Benjamin and Zula Francico Steele, retired over the road truck driver, Army veteran of World War II, and member of the Nazarene Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Bernice Allison Steele; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Kathy Evans and Kenneth and Betty Kelly, all of Grand Island, Neb.; one sister-in-law, Thelma Steele of Wolbach, Neb.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was a native of Sacramento, Calif., son of the late Franklin and Ethel Anderson Lukins, and a carpenter. He is survived by three sisters, Bonnie Weddell and Rosie Harill, both of Sacramento, Calif., and Myrtle Kitching of Lavaca; and one brother, Leroy Lukins. The body was cremated. Wise, 92, of Clarksville died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late William Presley and Mary Mason Wise, and was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Mae Bohannon Wise. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Clarksville First Assembly of God Church and a deacon in the church for 27 years. He is survived by three daughters, Earlene Lipsey of La Mirada, Calif., Karlene Hawkins of Russellville, and Denise Nichols of Lamar; one son, Lindell Wise of Clarksville; one sister, Jewel Taylor of Clarksville; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the Clarksville First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dade Kindrix and Rev. David Reddick officiating. Crowley, 66, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998. He was born in Clarksville, a son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth Crowley, attended Clarksville Schools until his junior year in high school, was a 1949 graduate of Tulsa Central High School, served four years in the United States Air Force, and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BSEE degree in 1958. His career was in aerospace working chiefly with radar and guidance systems. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eloise Crowley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Rodney Wilson of Fort Collins, Colo., and Linda and Dale Dubbert of Albuquerque, N. M.; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Bill Lewis of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Art and Shirley Blackard Crowley of Catoosa, Okla.; mother-in-law, Ethel Asfahl of Enid, Okla.; four grandchildren, Danny Wilson, Lauren Wilson, Brian Dubbert and Anna Dubbert; aunt, Gladys Ransom of Louisiana; two brothers-in-law and wives; and numerous nephews and nieces. Friends are invited to join the family for a remembrance walk around Heller Park at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, according to information released by Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home of Tulsa, Okla. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brother John Schad, O.S.B., 82, monk of Subiaco Abbey, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Abbey Health Center. He was born Lawrence H. Schad on Jan. 10, 1916, in Lindsay, Texas, to John and Sophie Schad. He attended St. Peter's School in Lindsay, Texas, graduated from Subiaco Academy in 1935, and spent one year in the college department at Subiaco before returning to the family farm following the death of his father in 1937. In 1942, he was inducted into the Army where he served during World War II in the Pacific. While in the armed service he earned two bronze stars and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal as well as a good conduct medal. After being honorably discharged in 1942, he entered Subiaco Abbey where he made his monastic profession of vows on June 10, 1948, taking the religious name of John. He retired earlier this year after working for 50 years on the abbey farm. He is survived by two brothers, Father Sylvester Schad of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Edward Schad of Gainesville, Texas; four sisters, Sister Alma Sophie Schad, Sister Vera Schad and Sister Helen Margaret Schad, all of San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. John P. (Mae) Streng of Muenster, Texas. A Christian Wake service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, and the Liturgy of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, in Saint Benedict Church at Subiaco. Interment was in the Abbey Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Henry Whittmore, 84, of Witter, father of Gary Whittmore of Hagarville, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at his home. He was born at St. Paul to Andrew Jackson and Mary Emaline Jones Whittmore and was a farmer. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Pauline Burnett Whittmore; one other son, Vernon Whittmore of Huntsville; one daughter, Bernice Cain of Huntsville; two brothers, L. D. Whittmore of Rogers and Louie Whittmore of Witter; one sister, Lou Ann Wheeler of Prairie Grove; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Childers, member of the Lamar Church of Christ, and was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Childers.
