All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Robert Leon Simmons Robert Leon Simmons (August 3, 1929 - June 4, 2007) Robert Leon Simmons age 77 of Rison, died Monday, June 4, 2007 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born August 3, 1929 in New Edinburg, a son of the late Henry and Mattie Sims Simmons. Mr. Simmons retired from the Cleveland County Road Department and had worked in the Timber Industry, was a member of Kingsland Assembly of God Church. Mr. Simmons was also preceded in death by three sisters; one brother; two grandchildren, Jodie and Jamie Garner. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife of 34 years, Evelyn Peters Simmons of Rison whom he married on June 24, 1972 ; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Becky Simmons of Pine Bluff; two daughters and son-in-law, Dorothy Simmons of Little Rock, Kathy and Loren Dickens of Waldron; three brothers, James Simmons and J. P. Simmons, both of Pine Bluff, Clifton Simmons of Rison; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 a. m Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Buie Chapel in Rison with Reverend Lewis Langley, Reverend Nathan Fitch and Reverend Harry Puterbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers will be David Cullins, Jimmy Wright, Garry Broadnax, Orie Lee Guilory, Ricky Wilson and Trigger James. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Cullins, George Best, Otis Cullins, Burt Crain, Jerry Cox, Ronnie Lloyd, W. G. Saeler, Billy Joe Saeler and Ralph Tucker.
