Pine Bluff Commercial, Pine Bluff AR, 15 Jun 1915
Headline: Deaths and Funerals, Mrs. W. S. Rowell
After a lingering illness of about a year, Mrs. W. S. Rowell, one of the most
beloved and popular ladies of Pine Bluff, died at the family residence, 707
West Second Avenue, Monday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock. Mrs. Rowell's death was
not unexpected, as it had been known for several days that her condition was
extremely critical. Her death, however, is none the less severely felt by her
friends in all parts of Pine Bluff. The deceased has made this city her home
for more than 30 years, removing to Pine Bluff from her family home at Rowell
in Cleveland County. She was noted among her friends for her lovable motherly
ways and her life-long devotion to her children. Three sons and four
daughters survive. They are: Attorney A. H. Rowell, Dr. Fred C. Rowell, Will
Rowell, Mrs. John R. Day, Mrs. C. K. Caruthers, Mrs. James Crawford and Miss
Lizzie Rowell. Two brothers, Matt and Charles Morrison, of Cleveland County
and a sister, Mrs. Guss Gresham, of this city also survive to mourn her loss.
The Rev. F. R. Steel, pastor of the First Methodist Church, of which Mrs.
Rowell was a life-long member and the Rev. James Thomas will conduct the
funeral services from the residence Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock.
Interment will be in Bellwood Cemetery. The following will act as
pallbearers: Honorary -- J.P. Alexander, Dr. A.C. Jordan, James Gould, R.H.M.
