White River Current - Izard County - June 3, 1992
        
VERLIE RETA LAWRENCE of Calico Rock, Ark., daughter of the late Joseph 
Burgess and Jane Taylor Burgess, was born Jan. 24, 1909 in Twin Creek, 
Ark. She died friday, May 29, 1992 at the Calico Rock Medical Center in 
Calico Rock, at the age of 83. She was married to Clarence Lawrence on 
Nov. 9, 1935 in Calico Rock, Ark. She spent her life as a mother and a 
homemaker.
  Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Hamby of Calico Rock, Ark., Jane 
Lindsey of Biggers, Ark.; one son Johnny Lawrence of Calico Rock, Ark.; 
four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, and two 
brothers. Funeral services were held Monday, June 1, 1992 at 2 p.m. in 
the Howard Chapel in Calico Rock, Ark. with Bro. Robert Doom officiating.
  Pallbearers were Junior Gillihan, Clifton Gillihan, Johnny Burgess, 
Jimmy Burgess, Johnny Smith, and Ronnie Gillihan.
  Burial was in the Spring Creek Cemetery in Calico Rock, Ark. under the 
direction of the Howard Funeral Home, Inc. in Calico Rock, Ark. Memorials 
may be made to the American Cancer Society.
