James Carthal "Bill" Atchley

    James Carthal "Bill" Atchley, 74, of Sheridan, Ark., was born
Feb. 1, 1927, in Sheridan to the late D.H. and Minnie Reynolds
Atchley. He died Sept. 10, 2001, in the Sheridan Nursing and Rehab
Center.
    Mr. Atchley was a truck driver, a member of the Antique Engine
Club, and a World War II Army Veteran.
    Survivors are his wife: Mary Proffitt Atchley; a brother: W.A.
Atchley of Flint, Mich.; a sister: Mary Anna Steele of Bryant; and
several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. in the Buie Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Ewing officiating. Burial was in New
Hope Cemetery near Sheridan.
    Pallbearers were John Pruitt, Sonny Kelley, Lex Riggan, Brett
Riggan, Billy Smith and Darrell Barnes.
