Victim of Fire To Be buried This Morning

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Keton,
51-yr.old victim of a fire that destroyed her home and
another Sunday morning, will be held today at 10 a.m.
at Caruth Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. John Small, pastor of the First Freewill
Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Active pallbearers, will be Everett E. Smith,
Jr., B. E. HIPP, Glendon R. Smith, W. B. Humphrey,
Bobby Anderson, and Douglas Medlock.
Mrs. Keton was burned to death in the fire,
believed to have started in the kitchen of her home,
212 Jackson. Her badly burned body was bound (*I
think this should be "found") by firemen probing into
the smoldering ruins.
Her husband, William Keton, told firemen he barely
escaped the burning house with his life.
The two-story frame house at 216 Jackson,
adjoining the one-story home where the Ketons lived
was also destroyed in the fire, fanned by an easterly
wind. Miss Ruth LeCroy, who lived in the two-story
home, owned both houses. She was quoted as saying her
loss was partially covered by insurance but that she
had no insurance to cover antique furniture in her
home.
Keton was quoted firemen as saying he had no
insurance on his personal property.
