This is an abstract drawn up by my aunt for my step-grandfather.

GLEN OWENS

Born Elmer Glen Owens 12-28-1926 to O.E. Owens and Madie Kirkham Owens
in Garland County. Glen was a Navy veteran of W.W.II and served in the
Pacific aboard the USS Nashville. After his return from his tour in
the military he married Clarys Tallent and was the proud father of 4
children; Marion, Michael, David and Charlotte. In August 1962, after
working with the Garland County Sheriffs Department gained the
distinct honor of becoming an Arkansas State Trooper and served in
Texarkana, Hot Springs, and his final station at Arkadelphia,
Arkansas. He retired from the State Police in August 1986. Then upon
the death of his wife Clarys, went to work for the Clark County
Sheriffs office as Chief Deputy. After a couple of years working
again, Glen finally retired for good so he could spend more time doing
the things he enjoyed such as his wood working, fishing and hunting.
It was at this time that he met his current wife Veda Todd. They were
married in March of 1995 and in so doing gained another daughter
Debbie Thomason. Glen and Veda enjoyed retirement to the fullest but
Police work was always in his blood. One of his favorite pasttimes
was having coffee with the "boys" and keeping up with what was going
on. Services were held 12-30-1997 at the 3rd Street Baptist Church in
Arkadelphia, AR. Interment was at the Rest Haven Cemetery.
