Gran M. Meadors, Pioneer Citizen Of County Dies Tuesday.
     One of Crawford County's oldest pioneer citizens was called by death Tuesday
Morning, when Gran M. Meadors, 90 years old, succumbed at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. E. L. Newton, at 1010 North Eleventh street, in Fort Smith, where
he had resided the last four years. The son of the late W. J. Meadors, known in
the country as "Wid", and nephew of John R. Meadors a prominent pioneer
merchant. Mr. Meadors came to Crawford Co. from Kentucky when he was only two
years old. He spent 84 years in this county. The funeral service was conducted
at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the chapel of the Ocker funeral home, with
Dr. Wallace Bacon, pastor of the First Christian Church in Fort Smith
officiating. Burial was in the Bolton Cemetery near Mulberry. Pallbearers were
three grandsons, Dyer Meadors of Dyer, Claude and Ted Meadors of Mountainburg;
and three nephews, Tom Rush, Paris Rush and Hugh Rush of Mountainburg. Surviving
relatives are three sons, L. M. Meadors of Van Buren, Robert Meadors of
Mountainburg, and John R. Meadors of Marysville Ca.; the daughter Mrs. Newton;
two brothers, E. C. Meadors of Ola, and W. W. Meadors of Riverside, Ca.; 28
grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
