JOHN ARLESS FERGUSON, 77 of Newport, a retired construction worker, died
Monday. Survivors are two sons, Dean Ferguson of St. Louis, James Ferguson
of Independence, MO.; five daughters, Mildred Mason of Benton, Doris
Deniston of St. Louis, Melba Lanier of Henderson, KY. Lorene Araiza of Long
Beach, Calif., Peggy Ferguson of Rector(Clay Co.); a brother Wilbur Ferguson
of McRae; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A private
graveside service will be held in Antioch Cemetery in Beebe. Arrangements
are by W.L. Westbrook Funeral Home of Beebe.

Jimmy "Spoon" Witherspoon, 74, born 8 August 1923 in Gurdon, AR. Died of 
natural causes in Los Angeles, CA on 18 September 1997. No mention of 
family or funeral arrangements. "He was one of the greatest blues 
performers of all time," according to a Long Beach disc jockey.

Grayson, Hiram T., b 25 Apr 1838 in Bledsoe, Tenn. died 13 Aug 
1918 and is buried in Sheridan, Indiana.  Hiram T. was preceded 
in death by his wife Elizabeth Catherine (Myers) Grayson.  He 
was a resident of Corning, AR in the early 1900's, and was a 
veteran of the Civil War.  He served with Company B,
52nd Indiana Volunteers.  He was the father of James T. Grayson 
of Corning, AR.
