Thomas B. Kendrick is a native of Benton County, Ark., born in 1842,
and is a son of Martin and Nancy (Phillips) Kendrick. [See sketch of
Lafayette G. Kendrick.] He has always followed the occupation of
farming, and owns a farm of eighty acres, a portion of which he
inherited from his father's estate, and the rest he purchased. In 1861
he enlisted in the Confederate army in Company F, Fifteenth Arkansas
Infantry, and was a participant in the following battles: Corinth, Big
Black, Port Hudson and the siege and surrender of Vicksburg. He
started home after the battle of Vicksburg, but was taken ill on the
way, and it was over a year before he was able to reach his
destination. He then resumed the occupation of farming, and has
continued the same with fair success up to the present time. He was
married, in 1873, to Miss Susan Phillips, of Benton County, and five
children have blessed their union: Bettie A. L., Ben. W., Nettie B.,
Mary J. and Nancy E. Mr. Kendrick and wife are members of the Baptist
Church.
