History of Benton County BENTON COUNTY.

H. Weems, M. D.,of Rogers, Ark., was born in Alabama on the 21st of
October, 1852, and is a son of S. W. and B. P. (Kartley) Weems. who
were born, respectively, in Alabama and Georgia. They are yet living,
and reside in Mississippi. Dr. H. Weems is the second of their eight
children (four living), and was reared in Mississippi and educated in
the common schools. At the age of eighteen years he began clerking in a
drug store, continuing in that capacity for four years. During this
time he studied medicine privately, and afterward attended lectures in
a school of pharmacy in Chicago, Ill. He afterward attended the medical
department of the Vanderbilt University at Nashville, Tenn., and
graduated as an M. D. from that institution in 1881. He soon after came
to Arkansas, locating first in Coal Hill, Johnson County, where he
practiced four years, meeting with fair success. He came to Rogers in
1883, and now ranks among the intelligent and successful young
physicians of the county. In 1876 he was married, in Mississippi, to
Miss M. A. Fullilove, who was born in Mississippi in 1856, and they
have an interesting little family of four children: Thomas, M. A.,
Beatrice P. and Agnes E.
