children would appreciate the missing genealogy of these families. I
have found some data, but not enough. Help me please. These are my
great-grandparents. I have a need to know their history. THIEMAN,

12-29-96 Doug Mason dmason@ix.netcom

Looking for the connection between Samuel Owens MASON (1835-1881) and
the family of George A. MASON (1814-1862). The evidence for this
connection comes from several Ray county probate records from the 1870s
and 1880s including those for Elizabeth CHIPMAN( 1821-1878), George A.
MASONs widow and Samuel himself. Samuel was born, according the
KENTUCKIANS IN MISSOURI, in Mason county. A Ray county history
indicates he moved to Lafayette county in Missouri in 1837 with his
parents Robert MASON (d. 1839) and Sarah Wiatt OWENS. After Roberts
1839 death, Sarah married Gideon FLOURNOY who also served as Samuel's
guardian until he reached maturity.

In 1856 in Lafayette county, Samual married George DELANEY. From this
union, the couple has these children: Robert W. (1857-1886), Ida
(1859-?), Gloria (1861-bef 1870), Flora (1863-?), Alvin (1866-1884),
Bryan (1870-?) and Georgia (1876-?).

Samuel served in the Confederate army during the Civil War, but after
the war ended, he settled with his family in Ray county where he
resided until his late 1881 death. Georgia died in 1878 and in 1879
Samuel married Mrs. Emma BRYAM, the widow of James BYRAM.

Frederick, MD. with his wife Henrietta C. Harding. They had four
children: Eleonor, John L. III, Harolde and Joseph C. I am searching
for birth records or any records of Joseph C. Harding, born
approximately 1861. Could anyone direct me to a Saline county
Historical Society, or assist me in finding census records for the 1860
and 1870 Saline county census. Joseph C. Harding married a Molly
Jameison. She had two sisters named Sally and Katie. Her father was a
Scotch Presbyterian minister. I am not sure if this marriage took place
in Saline county or not. Later, before 1889, Joseph and Milly moved to
PA. I know nothing of the other Hardings born in Missouri.

I am trying to find the parents of my gggrandfather Catron N. USHER (b.
1839 MO). He married Sarah A.G. SIMCOCK in Lafayette Co., MO in 1857.
He died 1860 Fannin county, TX. I cannot find him in the 1850 MO
census, however, I have located two young men age 15 and 13, William
Usher and N? Usher living in the household of William PENNELL in
Chariton county, MO. Catron would have been 11. He could possibly be
living with a relative in 1850 but is not listed in the census index.
Also living in the household in 1846 were Caton USHER and his wife Mary
?, both of them died in 1846. Caton and Mary were parents of Delila Ann
Usher who married William Pennell. Does anyone have an idea where
Catron was in 1850? I look forward to hearing from anybody with any
scrap of information.

MCKOROU 24 Oct 1821 in Richmond. They had a son, Jack. Arthur then
married 14 Jan. 1930, to JOSIE MAY GAYLOR in Lexington. Some say Arthur
married again sometime later to a woman named Mabel, and then to a
FLOSSIE WYANT. Need dates if at all possible, and would like to
know/verify how the marriages ended (death or divorce). Also would like
to try to find information on the son, Jack.

Washington on Feb 9. 1885. I know most everything about his life from

On July 18, 1856, a Frederick Meyers gut shot one Henry Bruce
Vallandingham with a shot gun. I have the newspaper article about the
murder which does not give the Vall. first name. Lexington was the
location. Vallandingham owned the St. Charles Restaurant in Lexington.
Meyers said he fired the shot because Vallandingham was fooling around
with Meyers' wife. So much B.S. Mrs. Vallandingham was with her husband
and there wasn't any fooling around. The newspaper writer expressed
some concern with the story Meyers offered. Do you know what materials
are available about this time? A letter from Vall talked about the
unrest in the Kansas territory nearby. He could have been a victim of a
political dissatisfaction, or Meyers could have been an unhappy
ex-partner of Vall. I would like to request info on the Frederick
Meyers person as well as the Henry Bruce Vallandingham person for the
1856 year.

4-6-97 adi@abelink.comSam Redding

My Redding line starts in Wake and Cumberland counties, NC in the
1790s. In 1818, Francis Redding married Nancy Norris in Lexington, MO
(which is now Lafayette county, but was perhaps Lillard then). In 1826,
Francis and Nancy lived in Morgan county, Illinois, where their son,
John B., was born. In the early 1830s, they were in what is now
McDonough county, IL., and by 1834 were in Des Moines county, IA.,
where John B. married Mary Ann Gilliland and their son Alfred was born.
They moved to Putnam county, MO, where Alfred married Almedia Bradshaw
and their son Chancey was born. Chancey was my grandfather and lived
most of his life in Johnson and Leavenworth counties in Kansas. It is
the 1818 Missouri connection that I know little about (and of course
the years prior to that --back to NC). If you have MO information, I
was probably inquiring especially about the time and place around
Lexington in 1818. Not only am I interested in Reddings and Norrises
there at that time, I am interested in who the early settlers were in
that area and what drew them there. Lexington was a long way from NC,
and 1818 was fairly early in settlement there.

Marshall and Absalom Weedin Marshall. The Marshalls lived in Odessa,

I am trying to help a lady find out what happened to a branch of her
family. Melchior Salyers, b. 1823 in KY, married Eliza Eades, b. 1824
in VA. They moved to MO where they were found in the 1860 census in
Lafayette with children Charles, Frank, and Rebecca Salyers. Likewise,
they appeared in Lafayette county in 1880. By 1900 Melcher was married
to a Mary Salyers and was living in Lexington with children Charles,
Walter and John T. Salyers. Melchior's second wife, Mary, is alone in
the 1810 census, living in Appleton. Bell Salyer's son, John T. Salyers
died in June of 1963, but SS info doesn't give a place of death. He was
apparently the son of Melchior Salyer's son, Frank Salyers. Would like
to be able to find out more on this family and perhaps contact
descendants of this line.

they come into the country and from where in Ireland. Have some guesses

12-6-97 Sam Redding adi@abelink.com I am curious if anyone can direct
me to sources of info on early Lexington history. My ancestors, Francis
Redding and Nancy Norris were married in Lexington in 1818. I think
this was before Lafayette county was formed. The Reddings and several
Norris families seem to have migrated from White county, Tennessee to
the Lexington area prior to 1820. I would like to know if this was part
of a larger migration from the same area at the same time, and any info
about these settlers. If you have suggestions, please let me know.
