GRACE LEONA SCOTT CRASE
	Grace Leona (Scott) Crase, 85, of Waldron, Arkansas, died on 
Thursday, September 30, 1999 in a Waldron nursing home. She was a 
homemaker, a member of Hon Baptist Church and the widow of Charlie 
Scott.
	Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2 
at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Hon Cemetery in Hon, 
Arkansas under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron, 
Arkansas.
	She is survived by her husband, Verne Crase of the home; one 
daughter, Charlene Crase of Waldron, AR; two sons, Charles Scott of 
Mena, AR and Almus Scott of Waldron; three sisters, Evelena Steele of 
Waldron, Rose Perando of El Reno, OK and Lucy Hayden of Lawton, OK; 
one brother, Johnny Roberts of El Reno, OK; seven grandchildren and 
11 great-grandchildren.
	Pallbearers were Charles Yandell, Danny Sims, Lance Drager, 
Willie Newman, Junior Newman, Jack Brown and Anthony Perando.

BOBBY LEE GIBBS
	Bobby Lee Gibbs, formerly of Waldron, passed away September 13, 
1999 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
	He leaves behind a wife of 43 years, Wanda Slater Gibbs; two 
sons, Danny Gibbs of Tonganoxie, Kansas and Mike Gibbs of Arkansas; 
three sisters, Ola Mae Yandell of Waldron, AR, Jenny Wagman of Mineral 
Wells, TX and Edith Scarbrough of Rodeo, CA; and five grandchildren.
	Bobby worked for Certainteed Fiberglass in Kansas City, Kansas 
for 39 years before retiring in 1995. Funeral services were arranged 
by Kansas City Funeral Directors.

EDNA MURIEL POWERS
	Edna Muriel Powers, 82, of Rogers, Arkansas, died on Tuesday, 
September 28, 1999 in a Rogers hospital. She was a retired cook, a 
member of the Cauthron United Methodist Church and the widow of Dennis 
Powers.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2 
at Cauthron United Methodist Church with burial at Kirk Cemetery in 
Cauthron, Arkansas under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of 
Waldron, AR.
	She is survived by one daughter, Lona Goff of Rogers, AR; four 
sons, Jim Powers of New London, Wisconsin, Coy Powers of Carlsbad, NM, 
W.L. "Von" Powers of Rogers, AR and Donnie Powers of Rogers, AR; one 
sister, Hazel Kirk of Waldron, AR; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-
grandchildren.
	Pallbearers were Keith Dedmon, Gene Dedmon, Stuart Goff, Morris 
Goff, Tommy Kirk, Wayne Kirk and Gary Jordan.

TERRY ARTHUR HUNT
	Terry Arthur Hunt, 52, of Boone, Iowa died on Monday, September 
27, 1999 at the Iowa Veterans Home of Marshalltown, Iowa of complications 
of cancer. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Earl Knerr and 
his brother, Gary.
	He was born in Boone, Iowa on November 7, 1946 to Clarence J. Hunt 
and Mildred (Nelson) Hunt-Knerr. He lived most of his life in Boone, 
Iowa and worked all around the Boone area painting home interiors and 
exteriors for over 30 years and then retired in 1996 due to his health. 
He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.
	He was married to Theresia (Glock) Hunt on September 18, 1970 at 
Boone, Iowa. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
	Funeral services were held on Friday, October 1 at the Schroeder 
Funeral Home of Boone, Iowa, under the direction of Rev. Norman Adamson. 
Burial was at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone with full Military Honors 
at the graveside by the Boone Veterans Council.
	He is survived by his father, Clarence Hunt of Waldron; his 
mother, Mildred Knerr of Boone, Iowa; his former wife, Theresia Hunt; 
his son, David J. Hunt of Boone, Iowa; his daughter, Kristen Hunt of 
Tempe, Arizona; his granddaughter, Kelcee Hunt of Boone, Iowa; three 
brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger & Carol Hunt of Waldron, Arkansas, 
James & Patricia Hunt of Glendale, Arizona, Jerry & Yukiko Hunt of San 
Diego, California; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Ann Hunt 
of Ogden, Iowa and Debra & Bill Holmes of Boone, Iowa.
	Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be used 
according to the wishes of the family.

LUCIAN K. McCAFFERTY
	Lucian K. "Mac" McCafferty, 72, died Friday, October 1, 1999 in 
Wichita, Kansas. He is formerly of Wichita, Kansas and a resident in 
Mission, Texas. He was a retired buyer for Watkins, Inc. He was born 
on November 30, 1926 in Waldron, AR to Lucian and Marion McCafferty 
who preceded him in death. He was married to Barbara Jean Brooks on 
July 4, 1950.
	He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home; sons Michael L. 
and Patrick D. of Wichita, KS; brother, Jack of Hot Springs, AR; sister, 
Barbara Jean Francis of Wichita, KS; and 6 grandchildren.
	Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4 at the 
West Heights United Methodist Church in Wichita, KS. Interment was on 
Wednesday, October 5 at 3:00 p.m. at the Monroe Cemetery in Harvey, 
Arkansas.

LUCILLE NEWMAN
	Lucille Newman of Mena, Arkansas passed away Saturday, October 2, 
1999 in the Sparks Regional Medical Center. She was born July 10, 1926 
in Waldron, Arkansas. Her age being 73 years, 2 months and 22 days.
	She was the daughter of the late Truman Gimlin and the late 
Eunice Ramey Gimlin. She made her home in Mena for the past 10 years, 
was a Nurses Aid, and a member of the Dallas Avenue Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Newman.
	She is survived by one son, Larry Newman of Mena, AR; two 
brothers, Glen Gimlin of Mena, AR and Earl Gimlin of Turlock, CA; 
two sisters, Dramae Davis of Yuma, AZ and Helen Reynolds of Mena, AR; 
three grandchildren, Chris Newman, Stephanie Hernandez and Angela 
Chappell; and three great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 
in the Hall Memorial Chapel with Bro. Gene Stacks officiating. Interment 
was in the Bush Cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Hall Funeral 
Service of Mena.
	Pallbearers were Eric Reynolds, Steve Reynolds, Chris Davis, 
Chris Newman, Ben Thompson and Valdon Rowell.

	George Lee (Bud) Bottoms, 71, of Waldron, Arkansas, died on 
Tuesday, October 5, 1999 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired 
mechanic.
	Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7 at Martin 
Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, AR with burial at Bush Cemetery near 
Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	He is survived by his wife, Billie Bottoms of the home; one

October 7, 1999 in her home. She was a homemaker.

	William Virgil "Bill" Shelton, 80, of Boles, Arkansas died on 
Monday, October 4, 1999 in a Little Rock hospital. He was a retired 
timber worker, a veteran of WWII and a Baptist.
	Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 9 
at Ouachita Missionary Baptist Church with burial at 3:30 p.m. at Big 
Cedar Cemetery in Big Cedar, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin 
Funeral Home of Waldron.
	He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Shelton of the home; one 
daughter, Darlene Warner of Jackson, CA; one son, Kent Morgan Shelton 
of Sutter Creek, CA; two step-sons, David Evans of Ink, AR and William 
Wilcox of Parks, AR; three sisters, Stella Kenner of Mt. Pine, AR; 
Lular Edge of Mt. Ida, AR and Charlott Ann Shumaker of San Antonio, TX;

	John Stephen Rose, Sr., 76, of Waldron, AR, died on Sunday, 
October 10, 1999 in his home. He was an army veteran, pastor of Bush 
Non-Denominational Church and was retired from Waldron Furniture 
Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ruth Rose, 
two brothers, Albert and Claud and one sisters, Selma and grandson, 
Stephen Ray.
	Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 1999 
at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Duncan Cemetery at Waldron, 
AR under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters and sons-in-law, 
Verna and Wayne Smith of Heavener, OK and LaVonne and Rick Page of 
Bates, AR; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and Martha Rose 
of Milledgeville, TN and Thomas Clayton Rose of Springdale, AR; three 
sisters, Bonnie Forrest of Waldron, Imogene McCurry of Blancett, AR 
and Betty Boggs of Ione, CA; 10 grandchildren, April Rhoads, John 
Thomas Rose, Bobby Page, Jamie Page, Becky Green, Misty Rose, Thomas

BESSIE M. BOBBITT
	Bessie M. Bobbitt, 87, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, formerly of 
Panama, Oklahoma, died Sunday, October 17, 1999 in Ft. Smith. She 
was born in Waldron, AR on May 6, 1912. She was a homemaker and a 
member of the Pentecostal Church of God. She was preceded in death 
by her husband, Lenard Bobbitt on June 22, 1999.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 
20, 1999 at Pentecostal Church of God in Waldron, AR with burial at 
Pilot Prairie Cemetery in Waldron. Reverend Ricky Hunt and Reverend 
Billy Donohoo officiated.
	She is survived by one daughter, Betty Creek of Greenwood, AR; 
one son, Roger Bobbitt of Huntsville, AR; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-
grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille 
Williams of Reedley, CA, Eller Merl Williams of Springfield, OR and 
Vernell Beyard of Waldron, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, other 
relatives and loved ones and a host of friends.

ARLEY DEWARD BROWNING
	Arley Deward Browning, 89, of the Cross Creek community near 
Waldron, died October 13, 1999 in his home. He was born on April 17, 
1910. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Martha 
Browning, one sister, Julia Syler, and three brothers, Allen, Claude 
and Ivan Browning.
	He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the 96th Infantry 
Division of the U.S. Army that was stationed in the South Pacific and 
helped liberate the Philippines. He was a member of the Unity Baptist 
Church, a long time election Judge in rural Scott County, a farmer and 
was retired from Waldron Furniture Company.
	He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lorene; three daughters, 
Barbara Paddack of Little Rock, Brenda Browning Emery of Fort Smith, AR 
and Linda Core of Fort Smith; one sister, Odessa Warren of Lindsey, 
California; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15 at 
Martin Funeral Home in Waldron with burial at Oliver Cemetery. 
Pallbearers were Phil Miller, Dale Miller, Roy Dean Browning, Donald 
Huddleston, Gerald Martin and Tom Workman. Honorary pallbearers were 
R.C. Maxell, John Montgomery, Donnie Oliver, Jim Hall, Adale Dickens 
and James Browning.

VICKY PINKEPANK
	Vicky Pinkepank, 43, of Sweet Springs, Missouri died Monday, 
October 11, 1999 in Bentonville, Arkansas as a result of an auto 
accident. She was born July 14, 1956 and was married on June 15, 1985 
to Marty Pinkepank. She lived in Sweet Springs since June of 1999, 
moving from Kingman, Arizona.
	She was preceded in death by a brother, William Joseph Garrison. 
She had worked at TA Truckstop in Concordia and at the Petro Truckstop 
in Kingman as a Fuel Desk Cashier.
	Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 14 at 
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs with Rev. David M. Ritoch 
officiating. Music was by Lois Heilman, organist.
	Sure is survived by her husband, Marty of the home; three sons, 
Maxwell Scott Jackson of Tucson, AZ, Jamie Lee Jackson of Crocker, MO 
and Cody Lee Pinkepank of the home; one daughter, Deidra Renee 
Whisenhunt of Independence, MO; two brothers, Alan Garrison of 
Jefferson City, MO and Tom Garrison of Waldron, AR; one sister, 
Barbara Connors of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren and several 
nieces and nephews.

	Freda Mae Scantling, 62, of Waldron, Arkansas died on Saturday, 
October 16, 1999 in her home. She was a homemaker and a Nazarene.
	Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 
10 at the Waldron Nazarene Church with burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery 
in Booth, Arkansas under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	She is survived by her husband, Vernon Scantling, Sr. of the home; 
two daughters, Linda Polk and Sandra Armstrong both of Waldron, AR; four
sons, Vernon Jr., Bobby Jack, Donald Wayne and Johnny Ray all of Waldron, 
AR; four sisters, Mary Jane, Linda, Karen, Shirley; one brother, Denver; 
18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

	Wanda Helms Turner, 48, of Alma, Arkansas died on Thursday, 
October 14, 1999 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a retired waitress 
and a Baptist.

Baptist Church with burial at Center Point Cemetery near Hon, Arkansas

	She is survived by two sons, Douglas Dunbar of Maumelle, AR and

	Vernon Billy Adams, 76, of Waldron, Arkansas died Monday, October
 18, 1999 in his home. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of 
Latter Day Saints, a member of the American Legion and a retired night 
watchman.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 
at Mena Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with burial at Six 
Mile Cemetery in Hatfield, AR under the direction of Martin Funeral Home 
of Waldron.
	He is survived by three step-daughters, Melba Thompkins of Waldron, 
Cleon Shelton of Boles, AR, and Ruthe Alldredge of Montague, CA; three 
stepsons, Edward Cox of Eureka, CA, Jessie Cox of Clarksville, AR and 
Roger Cox of Sutherlin, OR; one sister, Jerry Whitson of Phoenix, AZ; 
14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

	Claude Austin Dickens, 91, of Waldron, Arkansas died on Friday, 
October 22, 1999 in a Waldron nursing home. He was of the Pentecostal 
faith and a retired watch and clock repairman. He was preceded in death 
by one son, Charles McCubbin.
	Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 
1999 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Union Hill 
Cemetery in Waldron, AR under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of 
Waldron, AR.
	He is survived by two daughters, Mary Davidson of Little Rock, AR 
and Patsy McFarland of Waldron, AR; two sons, Sam Dickens of Van Buren, 
AR and Bob Dickens of Greenwood, AR; 10 grandchildren, Betty Ann 
Singleton of Pencil Bluff, AR, Juanita Holt of Waldron, Travis McCubbin

REV. ALTON DORROUGH
	Rev. Alton Dorrough, 80, of Mansfield, AR died on October 22, 
1999 in a Ft. Smith hospital. He was a retired minister of the 
Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a retired Master Sergeant of the U.S. 
Army with over 20 years of service during World War II and the Korean 
War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Scott-Sebastian 
Post 8245 in Huntington, AR. He had pastored churches in Dover, 
Caulksville, Waldron and Mansfield as well as two churches in Oklahoma. 
He was also a Mason.
	Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 
1999 at Coop Prairie Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mansfield with 
burial at Coop Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield under the direction of 
Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield, AR.
	He is survived by his wife, Rachel of the home; one daughter, 
Martha Ann Young of Mansfield; two sons, Gene Dorrough of Rogers, AR 
and Douglas Dorrough of Mansfield, AR; one sister, Marie Harned of 
Colorado; two brothers, Henry Dorrough, Jr. of Dardanelle, AR and 
Luther Dorrough of Hot Springs, AR; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

	Della Jane Roberts Hill, 60, of Pensacola, Florida, died Sunday, 
October 17, 1999 at Baptist Hospital.
	She was born in Waldron, Arkansas on November 23, 1938, the 
daughter of Joe and Pauline Austin Roberts. Her mother, father and 
brother Dr. William Joseph Roberts of Charleston, Arkansas preceded 
her in death.
	She is survived by her husband, Lee Roy Hill Jr., one daughter, 
Kimberlee Dwyer of Loxahatchee, Fla; three sons, Patrick Shawn Flanagan 
of Stuart, Fla., Michael Austin Flanagan of Ft. Lauderdale, Ala.,

	She was a mother of 42 years and a practicing LPN nurse. She 
was a two-time survivor of cancer and died of a heart attack.

CHARLES MATTHEW MORROW
	Charles "Charlie" Matthew Morrow, 87, died October 9, 1999 in a 
Tulsa hospital. He was a retired Phillips 66 Service Station manager, 
a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a long time member of the 
Jenks, Oklahoma Church of Christ.
	Mr. Morrow's family had resided in Scott County since before 
the 1850's. Mr. Morrow was born April 4, 1912 in Scott County, Arkansas, 
being the oldest son of the late Benjamin Allen and Ollie Clementine 
(Harris) Morrow of Nola, where he was raised.
	He married Nancy Edith Phillips December 22, 1936 in Jasper, 
Newton County, Arkansas. He worked at the mill in Forester before the 
mill was closed. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps 
during the 1930's and worked for Douglas Aircraft during World War II. 
He has lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma since 1942. He owned the Phillips 66 
station on 18th and Cincinnati for over 20 years.
	He was preceded in death by a daughter, Willene Adriana Morrow, 
who died two days prior to his death. Also preceding his death were 
three brothers: Bruce, Kip and Bill Morrow; two sisters, Geneva and 
Jossie Morrow; and two grandchildren: Mary Alves and Timothy Sean 
Lindsay.
	Double graveside services for Mr. Morrow and his daughter, 
Willene, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at the Memorial 
Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
	Survivors include his wife, Edith of the home; two daughters and 
sons-in-law: Charlene and George Holland of Florence, Oregon and Sylvia 
and Wayne Walton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son: Eddy Morrow of Tulsa; a 
sister and brother-in-law, Oneida and Raymond Neighbors; sisters-in-law: 
Pauline Morrow, Nettie Gene Morrow of Tulsa, Imogene Morrow of Bixby, 
Oklahoma and Eileen Hefley of Jasper, Arkansas; seven grandchildren:

	Willene Adriana Morrow, 60, died Thursday, October 7, 1999. 
Willene was born in Brownsville, Texas, daughter of Charles Matthew 
and Edith (Phillips) Morrow of Tulsa. She graduated from Central High 
School and attended Abilene Christian College in Texas.
	She is survived by her mother, Edith Morrow of Tulsa; sisters 
and brothers-in-law, Charlene and George Holland of Florence and

and many other relatives.

JEAN HENDERSON BAGGS
	Funeral services for Jean Henderson Baggs, 84, of Parks, Arkansas, 
were held Wednesday, November 3, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Parks Southern Baptist 
Church. Reverend Pat Ray Frost officiated and burial followed at Hawkins 
Cemetery, south of Parks, under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of 
Waldron.
	Mrs. Baggs was born February 8, 1915 at St. Joe, Arkansas, the 
first child of L.L. and Lillie Viola LeMay Henderson. She died October 
31, 1999 at Sparks Medical Center.
	On December 18, 1944, Jean married Marvin David Baggs at 
Weatherford, Texas.
	Mrs. Baggs, the matriarch of five generations, was preceded in 
death by her husband, Marvin David Baggs, in 1967; a step daughter, 
Nancy Alice Nassaf; four brothers, J.D. Henderson, Woody Henderson, 
Lee Henderson and Jerry Ray Henderson; a granddaughter, Tracey Sartain 
in 1985; and a great grandson, Michael Ruggere in 1998.
	Mrs. Baggs was a homemaker and a member of Parks Southern Baptist 
Church.
	She leaves to mourn her passing, four daughters, Anna Sartain of 
Weatherford, Texas, Billye Woodruff and Donna Martin both of Fort Worth,

	Albert J. Smith, 99, of Harrison, Arkansas died on Wednesday, 
November 24, 1999 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. 
He was born on December 30, 1899 at Parthenon, AR, a son of E.L. and 
Nancy (Farmer) Smith.
	He was a farmer and worked in the timber industry. He was preceded 
in death by his parents; his wife, Nore (Casey) Smith; one daughter, 
Fern Breedlove; four brothers; five sisters and an infant daughter.
	Survivors are three sons, Carl Smith of Harrison, AR, Jim Smith 
of Green Forest, AR and Jackie Smith of Waldron, AR; six daughters, 
Louise Mays of Lincoln, CA, Ruth Breedlove of Harrison, Ruby Lee Hamlin 
of Enterprise, OK, Nella Cepata of Hartford, AR; Glenna Jo Essex of

BRANDY GAYLE WOODRUM
	Brandy Gayle Woodrum, 17, of Grand Saline, Texas, died on the 
evening of Saturday, December 4, 1999 as a result of a car accident 
near Garden Valley.
	Brandy was a junior at Grand Saline High School and she worked 
part time at "Dairy Palace" in Canton as well as "Gun Balls" in Broadway 
Square Mall in Tyler. She lived in Grand Saline all her life. She was 
also a member of Main Street Baptist Church. Brandy modeled for the John 
Robert Powers Agency in Dallas, and had worked as an extra for several 
TV series including "Walker - Texas Rangers" along with several movies 
yet to be released. She had a publication in Hair Style Sophisticated 
Magazine. She was a tremendous humanitarian and always looked for ways 
to serve her fellowman.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 
at Main Street Baptist Church in Grand Saline with Brother Tom Pesnell, 
Brother Bobby Dagnel and Brother Larry Jones officiating. Burial 
followed at Woodside Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral 
Home.
	She is survived by her parents, Jesse Jr. and Kim Moreland Woodrum 
of Irving, TX; one brother, Shane Woodrum of Irving, TX; her grandparents,

in Topeka since 1951. He attended schools in Waldron, Arkansas and was 
retired from the I.H. Milling Company in 1969. He was married to Eula 
Lewis on November 12, 1927 in Waldron, Arkansas.
	He is survived by his wife, Eula of the home; two daughters, 
Violet Hill of Topeka, KS and Mary Sue Sandow of Cartersville, GA; 
five sons, Sam Essman and Jim Essman both of New Braunfels, TX, Phil 
Essman of Alpine, CA, Johnny Essman of Topeka and Fred Essman of Topeka;

Scruggs Sipes. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church, a homemaker

JOHN WAGANER
	John Waganer died Saturday, December 4, 1999 at the age of 80. John 
was born January 20, 1919 in Logan County, Arkansas. He was a resident of 
Ukiah for 41 years. He worked at Masonite for 21 years and was a veteran 
of WWII in the U.S. Navy. He spent his life working to keep his family, 
his church and his country safe.
	A Charter member of Grace Lutheran Church, John drove many of the 
nails that hold our church together both physically and spiritually. A 
man with abiding faith and deep family values, John, with his Esther have 
been in church almost every Sunday since we opened our doors in 1960.
	His faithfulness in good times and bad has been one of the rocks 
on which our Church is built. The wooden Nativity set in the lobby as you 
enter is just one of the projects that John did to help beautify our Church 
home and make our worship more meaningful. Its simplicity and the care and 
craftsmanship in construction are a good symbol of his Christ centered faith.
	John is survived by his wife, Esther; his children, John E. Waganer 
of Williams, Arizona, and Elizabeth Ward of Oakridge, Oregon, Sandra Petty 
of Ukiah; a brother, Sam Waganer of Waldron, Arkansas; and sisters, Addie 
Carmack and Alberta Yates, both of Waldron, Arkansas, and Ruth Tabler of 
Texas. He also leaves six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
	In the forty years since the founding of Grace Lutheran Church, John 
has always been with us, reminding us of who we are, why we founded this 
Church and the faith in which we are baptized. What we know by faith John 
now knows fully. Well done good and faithful servant.

member of the Church of God in Cedar Creek, Arkansas, was a member of the 
United Auto Worker's Local 93 in Kansas City, MO and was an Army veteran of 
World War II serving from 1944 to 1945. He was married to Dotha Rowlett on 
Oct. 14, 1939 in Cedar Creek. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dotha, 
his parents, and two brothers, Everett and Neil Scott.
	He is survived by two daughters, Venola Bennett and her husband, Carl 
of Lebanon, MO and Hazel Cox and her husband, Ronnie of Blairstown, MO; two 
sons, Thurman O Scott and his wife, Verna of Claycomo, MO and John Scott and 
his wife, Debbie of Warrensburg, MO; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 
one sister, Gladys Barber of Leachville, AR.
	Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m.

	Grace Lou Singleton, 63, of Boles, Arkansas, died Friday, December 
24, 1999 in her home. She was a homemaker.
	A Memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 
1999 at Chant Pentecostal Church of God. Her body was cremated under the 
direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	She is survived by her husband, Herman Singleton of the home; 
five daughters, Virginia Jones of Tulare, CA, Denise Hines of Y-City, 
AR, Patricia Hegwood of Houston, TX, Melody Chorley of Janesville, CA 
and Stacy Willingham of Y-City, AR; three sons, Harvey Hargis and Herman 
J. Singleton both of Y-City, AR, and Kenneth Singleton of Waldron, AR; 
her mother, Iona Burns of San Diego, CA; five sisters, Charlotte Hargis 
of Tulare, CA, Darolyn Gaylor of Texas, Ardrey Frary of Tulare, CA, Carol 
Sue and Sherry Kelly of San Diego, CA; three brothers, Samuel Burns of 
Cave Junction, OR, Robert Bryant of Clover Dale, CA and Gaylin Bryant; 
13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

GEORGIA LEE STEARMAN
	Georgia Lee Stearman, 67, of Parks, Arkansas died December 23, 
1999 in a Ft. Smith hospital. She was a homemaker.
	Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 
1999 at Parks Baptist Church with burial at Sehorn Cemetery in Winfield, 
AR under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
	She is survived by two daughters, Linnie Marie Stearman of Marianna, 
AR and Florence Jeanette Johnson of Jonesboro, AR; three sons, Lester 
Dewayne Stearman of Parks, AR, Alto Stearman of Parks, and William David 
Stearman of Hartman, AR; one sister, Johanna Bridges of Mt. Pine, AR; 
one brother, Johnny Robbins of Hot Springs, AR; 14 grandchildren and 
eight great-grandchildren.

VIRGIL LEE STITES
	Virgil Lee Stites, 72, of Blackfork, Arkansas died Wednesday, 
December 22, 1999 in his home. He was a veteran of WWII and a member 
of Friendship Baptist Church in Blackfork, AR.
	Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 
23 at Friendship Baptist Church with burial at Blackfork Cemetery 
under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
	He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Johnson of Blackfork, 
AR; three grandchildren, Cari Vann, Terri Harrison and Michelle 
Flemens; and three great-grandchildren, Jerod Flemens, Jeremy 
Harrison and Brandi Harrison.

CARL WOODARD
	Carl Woodard, 87, of Danville, Arkansas, widower of Etta (Garner) 
Woodard, died on Monday, December 13, 1999 at Chambers Memorial Hospital 
in Danville, AR. He was born April 7, 1912 in the Union Hill community 
of Scott County, AR to the late Johnny and Lillie (James) Woodard. He 
was a retired machinist in a carbide factory in  Redondo Beach, CA and 
was a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a brother, 
Haskell Woodard.
	He is survived by four sisters, Nellie Travis of Pocola, OK, Violet 
Honea of Renton, WA, Lexie Millard of Waldron, AR and Hollis Isham of 
Duncan, OK and several nieces and nephews.
	Graveside services were held on Wednesday, December 15 at 2:00 
p.m. at Union Hill Cemetery by Rev. James Icasc. Arrangements by 
Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR.
