Spotlight On...
JOHN SANDERS
	John Sanders was born some 6 miles east of Waldron, June 11, 1895. 
Mrs. Bertha Sanders was born at Harvey, February 1, 1902. John and Bertha 
were married August 3, 1919, after John returned from WWI March 31 of that
same year.
	They have two children, Mrs. Glinda Puckett, Waldron, and John Jr. 
of New Orleans, La., one granddaughter, Renee Puckett, one grandson, 
Michael Sanders.
	John worked at numerous jobs in Arkansas and Oklahoma until the 
year 1947, he began work for the Dierks Forests Inc. Lumber Company as 
first aid, safety man, and plant inspector, a job he held until June 1, 
1961, and was retired on the account of ill health.
	They moved to Waldron after his retirement July 18 of the same year,
to the residence where they now reside, 650 Washington Street. Soon after 
moving to Waldron, John became a member of both Veterans organizations 
here in Waldron, The American Legion, John Tolleson Post No. 46 and The 
Veterans of WWI.
	John has been Post Adjutant and Finance Officer of Post No. 46 and 
has been commander of the post for two years. He has been Quartermaster 
Adjutant and Service Officer for the Veterans of WWI for the past four 
years. He has charge of the Legion Hospital equipment, and also is a 
Notary Public. The first of August last year he became Scott County 
Chairman of the American Red Cross. His office is in his home. Mrs. 
Sanders is a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the John Tolleson Post 
No. 46, and also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of WWI. 
They both say there is no place to live like Waldron, Arkansas where the 
smiles, the hand shakes, and the friendship is a little stronger than any 
other place they have lived.
