Glynn Lamar Trusty, Sr.
(June 8, 1925 - June 7, 2008)
Glynn Lamar Trusty, Sr., 82, of Russellville, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at
his home. The son of Byron and Freeda Thomas Trusty, he was born June 8, 1925
in Ellsworth Township, in Logan County. He was a 1943 graduate of Paris High
School. At the age of 19 Glynn entered the United States Army and received
training as a machine gunner serving with the 80th Infantry Division of
Patton's Third Army. He landed on Utah Beach on August 3, 1944, and
participated in the Rhineland campaign. He received the Combat Infantryman's
Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American
Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with bronze
star, and the World War II Victory Medal. Following the war, Glynn worked as a
letter carrier with the Paris Post Office for 30 years and he served on the
Paris City Council for 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion and
received his 50 year certificate in April. He was a lifetime member of the DAV
and was a member of the Paris Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death
by his parents; two brothers, Ray Trusty and Leroy Trusty and a son, Jimmy
Mack Trusty.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Murray-Trusty, Russellville; two sons,
Glynn Trusty, Jr., Elm Springs, Steven Trusty, Hot Springs; a daughter, Cheryl
Price, Siloam Springs; three stepchildren, David Murray, Ramona, CA, Darryl
Murray, Thousand Oaks, CA, Denise Wright, Bentonville; five grandchildren;
seven great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three step great
grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Trusty, Fort Smith; three sisters, Ladene
Trusty, Paris, Lila Whitecotton, Paris, Ruth Steffy, Russellville; nine
nephews and a niece.
Funeral will be at 2:00PM, Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Mayflower Baptist Church.
Reverend Jim Huddleston will officiate. Burial will be at Mayflower Cemetery
by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6-7:30 pm Monday at the
funeral home in Russellville
